Will give my impressions on iOS5 later on today or maybe tomorrow depending on workload.

Also I have the iPhone 4S to unpack, setup and play with so that might take up my time as well

Ive got a slight problem with one of the apps since the IOS 5 update

I have the sky news app, it loads fine and you can see all the news stories on the front page but when you go to click on a story all i get is a blank white page, anyone else experienced this ?

One thing ive noticed which seems better than before is the battery life, today ive had wi fi constantly switched on and ive noticed that the battery inidicator seems to take longer to run down, previously before IOS 5 you could notice it going down quite quickly with wi fi switched on.

Has anyone noticed how slow and clunky Safari is on an iPhone when entering text on here, was fine before on 4.35 but iOS 5 seems to have taken Safari back a notch.

I've had the debug console running in Safari and it's the bloody social media plugins causing the problem when posting a reply (not a quick reply like his one), I'm getting 4 HTML and 2 Jascript errors when posting.

Apologies to my iPad, I won't take your name in vein again - I've said before these plugins are a problem and they were removed for a while, and now they're back with a vengeance.

What a load of tosh. 3hrs to update and restore. Phone so slow and doesn't cancel calls off. More pissed at fact does not work with my hands free in my fiesta sport van. Apple say not our problem. Was ok b4 u updated. So yh it is Ur problem. Ford say- yh iOS 5 will not work in any ford vehicle and waiting for update on their PCM system. They say don't worry u can have update all for £100. Apple are crap

I have a 3GS that zips along with iOS5, much better than 4. If I were you I'd do a full restore. Can't help with Ford.

Can't say I've seen any difference in speed on my 3gs. Doesn't seem to crash as much during phone calls now though (which is a good thing ).

The Ford thing is typical Apple. They change the interface without telling anyone, and then leave it up to the customer to front the cost of updating their other hardware/software to match. Pretty poor, but it's not the first time they've done it, and I'm sure it won't be the last...

Steady on Iain, everyone moans when Apple don't fully support the bluetooth stack, then when they do everyone moans again!! Personally I'm loving the fact that I can now get track info sent via Bluetooth, yes it sucks that Ford don't support this, but it's hardly Apple's fault and Ford are issuing an update to fix the issue.

Nobody is complaining about the new features. What is being complained about is now not being able to use the features you have been using for the last year or so unless you give Ford £100 notes to upgrade your car equipment. This is the fault of Apple, as everything worked fine before the update.

It is perfectly possible to introduce new features and still remain backwardly compatible, (older devices just won't see the new features). To introduce a breaking change like this with no prior warning on the update is simply bad software practice. Do Apple not do any testing? (from previous experience, not a lot is the answer).

Works fine with my Alpine. Version 3 something broke compatibility with my stereo, I whined for a while then Apple fixed it, that really was an Apple problem.

If the Ford stereo's need an update then that to me doesn't indicate an Apple problem.
