if your stuck on Backup part, look for the dloaded file
Its in Users/yourname/appdata/roaming/apple/itunes/updates.
you may have to untick show hidden folders to see thr app folder.
Once you have found it SHIFT click restore and point to that IPAD 2 5.0 xxxxx file and it does it eventually,
the backup is just annoying and not needed

They really do need to include a swipe bar across the top for quick access to switching 3g/wifi etc on and off like you can have when jailbroken. I'm really missing that feature no longer being jailbroken.
Yeah me too, 3G was always turned off when at home and same for wifi when at work.
The cards app is our now which I'm liking . Going to send family in Germany a Xmas card with it this year

Cheers mate.
Yep have you got itunes set to open when devices connect? My ipad and iphone both seem to to drop in and out of wifi sync when they feel like it so one minute they appear in itunes the next they aren't there then they randomly appear again.
I didn't try that as I thought it would only apply when connected by cable.

I switched back to iPhone because there was a jailbroken application called LockInfo that was fabulous.
Now iOS 5 has a roll over banner when you get an email when in fullscreen and all the things that have happened on the lock screen making it a much better 'work' phone.
All updated and all worked flawlessly as I expected
Notifications is cool, especially when you can customise what you want in there
Phone feels quite snappy as well, iMessage is great
just exploring the rest of it
and then iCloud to play with
oh and will report back tomorrow evening once I have the iPhone 4S to play with

The notifications made the iPhone more usable. I switched from iPhone to Android (Samsung) because the notification system was terrible..

Perhaps I was expecting too much and the old saying "if it aint broke..." maybe the reality in some ways.
I've gotta be honest, I'm happy with the iPhone in any case, so it's not really a problem.

Updated ok last night, so I guess it was just server load that was causing my failures. Don't like the way it has wiped all of the emails I had stored on the phone though. Didn't even warn me it was going to do it
What method of email were you using? i.e. my gmail setup as an exchange account was back on my phone as it was before I updated and was unaffected.
My Son told me last night his 3gs wont play music since updating to ios5 and he searched the web and found lots of others saying the same thing. This certainly hasn't been a successful roll out by Apple. I told my Son to back the phone up and wipe it and try restoring the software and then restore from backup otherwise it will be a trip to the Apple shop to sort it as it's still under warranty.

Well regarding the wifi sync issues this is what mine does, booted up pc and opened itunes. Both iphone and ipad appeared in itunes and so I did a wifi sync on the iphone. When it finished it disappeared out of itunes and so did the ipad and both devices now show the wifi sync is unavailable.
It is a little erratic. I just opened iTunes it found the two iPhones and iPads and I dropped some music on them. It synced on two of them and I had to manually unlock one device as it didn't want to sync without the lock code being typed in.
Camera icon seems to have disappeared from the unlock screen. I saw it initially, now gone, can't see a setting.
The bluetooth no longer connects/disconnects in the car every minute which is good.

It took about 20 minutes to go from not working to restored and update to iOS 5!Note to self, next time wait 24 hours before updating!
