What type of splitter is that? How long have you had it (ie has it lasted ok?).

Swissvax is v good for it's high carnuba wax content btw. Works best when built up in layers over a few separate polishes.

Have to say guys, the 2 classics pictured on here look absolutely amazing. 10 yr old plus cars looking like that is a credit to the owners.

Mine never looks that good (confirmed Autoglym fanboi lol) and I would not want to drive it if it did.

The hawk looks great aswell

It looks like part of a splitter that you can get for the bug.

The last time I used Autogrim I vowed never to use the stuff again.
I used a bumper polish thing (like a back to black I suppose) around 10 years ago on the black bits on my old Saxo bumpers. The car was brand new at the time (51 plate) and the bumper was black. The next day the bumper had faded that bad it was more grey/white colour than black

And so I have still never used any Autoglym stuff

OMG, all of your cars look stunning.
I'm gonna sound thick here, but can someone explain wtf claying is?
What is the correct way to get bodywork to that standard, from scratch?

Cheers

Claying is a method of getting contaminents out of your paint that aren't removed by normal washing techniques.

Using a soft piece of clay and what i personally use is car shampoo mixed with water for a lubricant, you spray the water/shampoo mix on the panel and rub the piece of clay over that panel to remove any contaminents and leave it feeling glass smooth.

Before using the clay i would use some autosmart tardis to remove tar residue and carpro iron-x to remove iron contaminents and then clay the car.

Your then ready to use polishes, glazes, sealents and waxes of your choice

A few years ago i used autoglym extra gloss protection on my 205 gti, it looked streaky and not good. I phoned them up to see if I'd done something wrong, within 2 days an autoglym van turned up, the bloke removed all the old wax off my car then completely rewaxed it, then gave me 1 of nearly everything they did! He then shook my and and thanked me for phoning them and letting them know. Maybe worth a go yourself.

I've used Autoglym since day 1 of owning my hawk. Shampoo wash followed by super resin polish and ultra gloss protection. The first few tries were a failure leaving me with sore arms I then discovered that it was better to pour the contents into a spray bottle and spray them on (resin is a bit harder to spray)

Having had the *****/time to attempt claying yet. May give it ago after the winter period.

go onto cleanyourcar.co.uk i use there own brand clay which is one of the cheaper brands but works aswell as the others.

Also get a spray bottle and spray nozzle ans i use a cheap car shampoo that you can pick up from halfords or the likes to mix with the water.

I am going to do a top job with my freinds polishing machine andget a really good quality to the paint and give it good protection for the winter.
What I willdo is the following;
1) give it a wash and then clay-bar it to get a smooth finish
2) Polish it with that polish you said from halfords using your machine and the ‘polishing pad’
3) Go over with Dodo Juice Lime Prime Lite (pre-wax cleaner)
4) Use chemical guys wet mirror finish (sealant) using your machine and the ‘waxing pad’
5) Use Dodo Juice Purple Haze + finger applicator to apply one layer of wax
6) Wait an hour and then apply second coat and maybe more if I get time

This should give a really good depth to the paint, a superb gloss to it and good protection for the winter ...... well it worked superb on my old mica blue classic

The pads should be these??
