I hate autoglym!

Yesterday I polished my silver clio 197 with autoglym extra deep gloss polish and ill never use it again, it didn't go on very nice and wouldn't come off without massive amounts of effort and when it eventually did decide to part company with my paintwork it left it looking nothing more than just clean,, so today I had the bright idea to use autoglym extra gloss protection on my black impreza and to be fair it went on very nice, but just wouldn't come off, even worse than the extra deep gloss polish and what did come off like the dung I'd used on the clio left a dissapointing shine in the end I resorted to using autosmart "wax" to get the other sh*te off and the difference in the finish between the autoglym and autosmart products was like day and night, i'll never use that cr*p again.

i use it on my 792 classic and its spot on just clayed mine today then detail waxed it superb finish - doesnt like hot days tho - the dryers come out to quick
iain

Both cars were in the shade and washed prior to polishing so panel temp would'nt have been an issue, in work (i run a bodyshop) i also use the autosmart polishes and find autosmart platinum a fantastic polish and would run rings around any of the autoglym products i've used, having said that i've heard their HD wax is quite good and did win some in a show and shine but sold it on without using it :)

prodriverules 02 October 2011 06:36 PM

Is that the formulation one Jarv as the old type was like that but i find the new one good but i love the high definition wax that builds on top of the deep gloss.

is your paint work nice and smooth, like running your fingers over clean glass? if not, it will be hard to get off.

i have used both of them and found them easy to use. but do you mean ultra deep shine polish? if so, isnt that more dor darker coloured cars?

MattJ85 02 October 2011 06:53 PM

i find autoglmn is awesome stuff but only when used properly, you have to clay and then a couple coats of super resin polish to get the glass finish, then and only then can you use the extra top up stuff like ultra deep shine

cockneymfc 02 October 2011 07:11 PM

only thing which is any good in the autoglym range is the fast glass .......poorboys is the nuts :notworthy

barnshaw 02 October 2011 07:14 PM

autoglym super resin polish is by far one of the best polish's available for its price, bear in mind it is mildly abrasive as a polish should be, applied properly with a pad and removed with a microfibre you cant go wrong?? (does leave a bit of white dust)

it does not remove swirl marks though it simply masks them as it is also a filler, you will need a good rotary polisher to remove deep swirl marks

i always use super resin polish and then a decent wax to seal it such as collinite or similar

I've been using some of the www.kleers.com stuff recently and it's VERY good.

AlanPPP 02 October 2011 07:24 PM

Only ever used AutoSmart!

Mirror Image polish is awesome as is most of the stuff they do!

Has anyone tried showroom shine/grease lighting? any thoughts on this product? I used it a few years ago and it was ok on my old legacy but am not sure about using it on my forester.

Myles 02 October 2011 07:53 PM

HD Wax is very good, but as stated above you need to prep properly first.

With mine being white it's not the easiest to get a good depth into but it does work very well.

some of my collection, always keep it in the house where its warm and dry in the cupboard upstairs

It's really good stuff, does exactly what it says & makes the paintwork silky smooth as a pre wax treatment. but beware it stinks lol crushed flowers yeah right haha:lol:

Our agent has tried to push that into me before but was unsure, think I'll give a go if you think its worth it.

I use autoglym stuff but only the super resin polish, I got some Autosmart polish off the lads in the valet bay at my old work it was good stuff too but I prefer the super resin. I was going to try the deep gloss but Polished Bliss said the same and directed me to poorboys Natty wax on top of the super resin for a glass finish...

Massive fan of radient wax to. Easy to apply beads well good gloss at 25 quid a gallon. Hd is good to but a little harder to remove.
