invoicing
welding

tbh i think its part and parcel when you work for yourself or family, often find yourselve doing more and more haha.

i used to work my 6 week hols as a kid to pay for my ice hockey goalie kit, then right from work, i have been lucky enough to be able to use all the top brands as we have always had full mixing scheme and in later years digital spectometres, were currently on dupont cromax, previously ppg.

Dupont is a lovely paint scheme tbho followed closely by sikkens,I know exactly where your coming from about working for family as ours is a completely family run firm with father at the top and me and my brother there as well.
What clear coat are you using there Jake,I'm on sikkens superior[medium]

i like the way it goes on, esp once dry. only down side is it can sometimes be a bit opaque,

clear wise we use a couple, for our budget priced stuff we us the dupont vr-1120, but for the higher end jobs we go for the premium 3800.

Dupont all round then mate,I like the drying time also with dupont[very fast].
Haven't used the clear as yet though so can't comment on that,I use the sikkens autoclear standard ultra fast for budget stuff instead of the superior but its a must with the superior being £300+ for the combined kit.

years ago when we looked at waterbase, before they physically made you change, it was always the clears that were expensive like you say. the base was usually pence between them, infact waterbase is cheaper than solvent base now, and clears have becoe alot more competitive, esp with pallet rates haha

Very true the colour is stupidly cheap these's days, much like clear if your happy using crap that falls flat on its ****.
Bulk buying is the ticket though tbho,we got a good deal on some of the ultra fast about a month ago

Nice work there Jake, does the dupont clear pull in any at all over a few days mate.
Sikkens superior does slightly but nothing a run over with the polisher won't sort.

It does a little, I would say a little more so on the bonnets and flat surfaces if you bake it but that's purely as they get a little more product. The plan with the car is to block all the paint work anyways so I can get a really nice finish to it.

If only it stayed like it looks in the first 24 hours aye mate, would be a lot less work before it was ready lol.
Looks a very nice finish though mate
Look forward to seeing the end result

Yeah tell me about it lol, one thing a paint rep said to me regarding air drying was to open the booth doors as the solvent can settle, I've tried it and it does work, my only problem is time scale as I need the car on the rd for weds so a few late nights may be had mid week as it seems pointless to build up then polish lol.

It does allow the solvent to vent when left overnight, how far are you going to cut back mate[1500ish or more]
The only only thing I find with cutting back is occasionally when hit to early it can fall back down over a short period.
Isn't an issue when it truly cured, although there needs to be enough clear depth left for a lifetimes polishing which can more than time to time with some lol.

I think it also depends how hard you hit it. When I take the clear right down smooth and polish it tends to stay, but if you lightly nib it ie for a bit of peel then it can drop.

The plan is to use 2000 blocked wet and dry followed by 3m 3000 trizact, then going through the grades 3m perfectit 3 fast cut on green pad. Then yellow pad, followed by yellow fine polish yellow pad then finesse it afterwards.

Your using the same as me then Jake, the anti-holigram works well too[blue],I presume you'll be using the 3000's on the DA then mate, they do put the clear up to a good point to start polishing.
Very time consuming though aye!

we have the blue aswell, i do like the trizact, one thing i dont like though are the 3m 1500 discs, they always seem to leave pigtails in the paint, i have now oved onto the farecla 1500 discs for our run of the mill and its very good, but still stick to the 3m polish.

here are the new wheels

I've always stuck with 3m polish as everything else seems to fall short imho.
Like the wheels, are you sticking with the black?

WOW,now that would e different lol,how do you find that colour to paint mate.
Doesn't seem to have much covering power in any paint scheme that I tried it with, mind all the duel stage colours seem pretty much the same.
