LOL! Little House On The Prairie??

Last night you mean? No, I had some work I really wanted to finish, while trying to stay off SN.

All the tractors have gone. Back to just Heathrow and West London traffic. Oh and the late night Owls, early morning Cockerels, Geese, and Parrots!!

 

When we worked around Heathrow/Windsor the planes were really noticable on day one, thereafter you would hardly notice them, did used to notice when Concorde was going off though.

The nearest field to us is about 50 yards from where I'm sat.

The 1st year year we were here the farmer used his Combine Harvestorat about 3 in the morning. The whole house shoot and I thought the roof was caving in . It lasted about 20 minutes in total.

Happened every year since. Small price to pay for living in a rural place

 

I remember Concordes first flight. We were in primary school and all dashed out to see it fly past, screaming, "CONCOOORRRRDDDEEE!"

I am such a saddo, I can tell certain planes just by their sound, without even looking up!

I generally don't notice them, but do get excited when seeing an A380 go past. Recent works outing to the Oval saw me pointing out the A380 as it went overhead and confirming the times they usually pass by - people just looked at me in silence!

On my way back from the Far East recently, I spotted 6 A380s on one journey! 3 in SIN, 1 in CDG, and 2 at LHR - they were right next to each other too!

Anyway, remember to let me know when you are round this way again, we are overdue a beer!

Sounds good. We moved into this place July last year and in the very early days I had the same sensation, whole house would shake, then stop, shake then stop.

I had no idea what the hell was going on until I went upstairs to look out of the back window and there was a combined harvester, going up and down. Every time it passed the house shook.

Wish SN would allow me to upload some pics and then I could show you!

I live next door to a cereal field; we moved in last Spring.

I am amazed how long the wheat takes to grow! It was planted and germinated last winter and he has just harvested it now!

I hope it made him loads and loads of cash though so he doesn't sell the field to a builder!

You are likely to find that the farm workers started work while you were still zonked out in bed and not fully recovered from the excesses of the night before. If they were not doing that you would find yourself getting a bit short when it came to getting food too.

Totally unreasonable to whinge about them using the road as they are fully entitled to in order to earn a living. They have to transport their equipment when they have the chance.

The farmers aroung here will usually pull over to let any queue which is building up go by in any case.

You could always get up a bit earlier as well!

Can always tell when they are harvesting around here because our garden is usually full of birds on the feeders , whereas they all go off into the fields when they are harvesting.
