Answering an earlier point, why compare a GT3 RS to a GTR.
I guess my first answer - is why not - it all adds to the fun.
In reality the GTR gets compared to all top Porsches - Turbo, Turbo S, GT3 RS, GT2 and GT2 RS. I think the GT cars get compared more as the Turbos are more fast cruisers than drivers cars and the GTR is in the mix with the GT cars. Clue's in the name
When I set up my business I had a red GT-R in my vision board that when my profit hit a certain target I was going to buy one. Two things happened - the vision excited me more than the reality (although I have not driven one properly in anger - but gearbox rumours, pop-up bonnet repairs, stupid servicing costs didn't encourage me to try too hard) and I shot past my profit target by around 300% so had a little more choice.
And when the option came up out of the blue for a brand new RS, I bought it in around 20 seconds.
And no - I didn't go for ceramic brakes because of anecdotal issues on UK tracks (shorter and more braking/less cooling than Euro tracks like the Ring and Spa).

Since you are thinking anyway, you may as well think big! Donald Trump
Currently involved in a deal with a company I own a small piece of - cost me nothing to get in as I was a founding shareholder. The deal will take three years, but I need something for my new vision board - a Pagani maybe?

I'm launching a new fund, starting investor road show next month, my vision board is already focused on a Aventador LP 700-4 . I'll tell you something......that car is going to look great on me

If I was in your shoes I would have the Porsche bloody right I would, they are a thing of beauty mate, you should be very proud of owning one I know I would be..
I would still consider putting the comparison more up against the V spec though if I was you, its about the same price, both are striped out race vairiants of the normal car. Reason is because its slightly embarasing if you ask me to pay so much for a car and yet some old Datsun can beat it never mind in standard form but add £1000 Y pipe + Cobb port + map and its well leaving you for dead..
PS that last bits just to wind you up

GTR was my motivational tool, put my deposit down while in Uni to spur me to achieve the success required to afford it on delivery!
Did you have a job waiting for you when you finished Uni or was it just blind faith in ur ability to score a job on the completion of your studies? What line are you in?
Tell me to fork right off if this is not info you would like to share.
Either way -

Hi all,
Love reading this thread as I love the GTR. I know its personal, but what do you guys do for a living ? Are you all on big money ?? Do you buy the car's outright / lease / HP ??
Im on fair money, Im an IT contractor so around 5 figures, but owning a GTR is still out of my reach. I tend to buy car's out right and now having 2 kids, a wife that stays at home, Im skint :-) Are you lot single / kids ??
Do you forgo a nice house for a GTR ?? The pic of the red GTR, the house in the background doesnt look the most lavished so money gone into a car ?
Dont mean to be rude, but just wondering. I spent my cash on paying off my house, so am morg free now. Do you guys remorg your house, due to cheaper rates, to then buy a car ?
SBK

Lots of ***** waving going on in this thread
Guys, there is always someone out there richer than you are. There are lottery winners out there that do not need to work or invest, there are wealthy kids who do not need to work, there are mediocre footballers on 7 figure salaries.
Big deal, seriously
Simon, there are ever increasing numbers of 30 somethings still living at home with parents and there are lots of people that choose careers over children so in both these cases there is a lot of disposable income floating around. There is a 20yr old over on the M3 forums who earns no more than £25k but yet has a £55k M3 because he lives at home with his parents.
Once you've got the big house, wife, 2-3 kids and a good lifestyle, (holidays, pensions etc) if you can afford a nice car after all that then you are doing very well. People are getting it the wrong way round these days, there are a few nice Porsches sitting around on council estates up here but I suspect no money leftover for nice house/kids/wife/holidays, it's crazy.
Not saying that applies to anyone here but I wouldn't go looking at what other people drive and compare myself against them. For all you know, they may be a recluse living at home with parents and with nothing else in their lives to spend their money on.
I have 3 kids in nursery and a massive mortgage to pay but I would rather the kids and a house than a nice Lambo on my parents drive
As said above though, there's always someone a lot more wealthy than you are so enough of all the Big I am talk guys, it's 'small mans syndrome'

I'm in the markets, I use technical analysis to generate short term, high conviction trades.
I've actually got an account which im only trading commodities in that was to fund the rebirth of the GTR, but since then I got my eye on another project......stay tuned

Far from insecure myself, I hope I've got my life the right way round, important things first, i.e wife, house, kids, whatever's leftover is spending money for the secondaries. A car is just a car at the end of the day, a depreciating lump of metal
Nobody likes a show off

What makes your view of what is important relevant to anyone else?
What makes you think that Alloy hasn't already got a fully funded pension, paid off mortgage etc?
You really have no idea. Alloy got it spot on - you are just trying your hardest to bolster your own insecurities.

I would love own a R35 GT-R but as it is I'm looking at a R32 GT-R or a R34 GT-T (Possibly GT-R if they dip below 15k). Hopefully if I make the right career moves I might be able to afford one at some point.

Talking about your job, investment portfolio and a £210k Lambo, nope, you're right, there's no ''big I am'' talk here
