I asked a question to the o.p for a reason. If the block was still built there is no way anyone could have known it was damaged. Not defending the seller in any way but my question was ignored and the damage is obviously fresh.

Slightly off topic but how can someone cause damage light that to an engine?

Back on topic it's good to see the motoring community coming together to get to the bottom of someone getting ripped off.

Just a thought,
The lad must of had some front if he knew the block was fooked. He must of thought you would check it over when you arrived.

looks like they've had to chisel out the gudgeon pin recess to get the pin out, maybe at some point in the past a piston has seized on the pin and took a shed load of work to get it off.

I think you've brought this on yourself phil as your communication seems to be a little poor. If you couldn't afford the refund straight away I think it would have been prudent to tell matt that was the case, I'm sure he would have been understanding. But hey everything has an easy solution in hindsight.

Phil,

If you remember you and your friend had quite a bit of trouble getting the pistons etc out of one side of the block.

I told you of the damage after I bought it & although I posted +ve feedback originally, when you failed to reply I then left you a -ve feedback for the same purchase, which has somehow been removed.

Anyway, the block is on its way to Steve who will be bringing it round. If you dont have the full £200 right now then you can give him x 2 instalments of £100. Not really bothered how I get the money back as long as I get it back.

I think you realise that this isnt going to go away so for your reputations sake I'd suggest you keep to your word and refund the money when the blocks delivered. The subaru community is a small world fella and definately far too small to be making enemies or ripping people off. Judging by the PM's & chats I've been having it would seem there are a few others who feel you've done quite a bit of both.

Treat people the right way & do the right thing. You'll find life is a lot easier and people a lot more pleasant towards you. Some friendly advice.

It was dark, I'd been drving from London - Leicster - Derby - Sheffield - Leeds - Gateshead & I was knackered, plus I still had to get back from Gateshead - London.

Never made a mistake or overlooked anything in your life Slab?

No offense mate but its part & parcel of being human the fact that we all make mistakes from time to time.

not only that,im assuming phil led you to believe you were buying a good working block?
if he said the block was good and infact it was damaged he should refund you straight away.
a genuine seller would NOT falsly advertise something as good when infact its actually scrap!
shame on you phil,do the decent thing!
at the end of the day.....wether you get refunded or not i think it will be phils last sale on here as i certainly will not be purchasing anything from him and im sure everyone that has seen this thread will also avoid.
so for the measly £200 he has conned you for thats all he will be getting, and his reputation now is ruined......

hope you get your cash back mate,if it was not advertised as "good" or "working" etc then you are not due a refund, but then phil should have advertised it as "spares or repair".

his communication on here seems p**s poor so i hope karma partakes in the future......it always does in the end!

I am vice chairman on www.nesf.co.uk.
and phil has been banned from owa forum for this, but ME personally hav never had any problems at all with phil.
av bought parts off him and he bought parts off me.
without any problems,i only live 10 miles away, but av seen the pics and no way would i sell a block like that. and did you notice who his friend was who was helping phil??
cos if it is who a think it is say no more....
if its DR, it will have been him who caused the damage..
its a good job the subaru comunity is a small world.

any way DR, will be getting a talking too when i see him.
he signed up too owa forum a few weeks ago and had a go at my technical answers? what a idiot..
he sharp got deleted.
anyway hope phil does the decent thing and refunds you.

I think (hope) Phil realises that this isnt going to go away and the money will need refunding.

Have had more than a few offers of help in getting the money back but I'm going to give Phil the benefit of any doubt and hope he chooses the easy route (preferred by me).

Block will be making its way up to the northeast this week and getting delivered to Phil. Hopefully he'll stick to his word.

If memory serves me right then the friend helping take the block apart was older than Phil with either very short cropped hair or balding.

baldy. Block is now in gateshead. Couple of people will be taking it back but i think they'll be in touch with you to make arrangements. Let me know if not and i'll help arrange delivery of the block. Swapped texts with phil yesterday but he wouldn't answer my calls. Hopefully he'll see the light and refund the cash as it'll be a lot simpler for everyone.

Reading what finnigan said about his possible helper (DR) don't you think that it could actually be possible that the damage was caused by said person and that Phil actually didn't know that the damage was done! As you said it was dark.
As for your comment baldy, you actually bought something from Phil (yes it was different) and seemed to have no probs what-so-ever and yet you make a judgement that he is a ****** etc and your only going on what other people have said. Easily led I think

However, I agree that the damage was done and thenfore a refund really needs to be given, but as it was months after you can't really expect someone to keep the cash that long and give a full refund at the drop of a hat! I bet those don't have spare cash laying would also be in the same boat And if it was me and a load of people on here were saying that they were coming to see me etc, then I would tell you to come as I would be waiting patiently

Because the fault lays on both sides freak for being tired and blind / Phil for not seeing it and being blind (if it was there in the 1st place) why dint you settle for 50/50 not being a bitch freak but after 8/10 weeks you be lucky to get anything out of me infarct you wouldn't,
You could send the Cray twins round you would still get nothing.
Who's to say you didn't do the damage after 8/10 i could of built it and put 3 thou miles on it. So to me its 50/50,

hope you get it sorted between you both could be worse could of been me.
