All I'd say is if you wanna get there fast take the motor ways and pay the tolls coffee and food in the services is expensive .if you have time want good sceneray and a decent meal take the nationals where ever you can it does make the drive alot more enjoyable fuel and food off the motorways is a lot cheaper

I do Callais to Bordeaux 4-5 times a year - I fill up at Tesco in Ashford just off the M20 J10 so that I can roll off the tunnel & just go.

deffo the best route - Rouen is a bit of a faff, but the Le Mans stretch is really quiet - avoid Paris at all costs.

I got mine from APRR but you do need to understand French, if you're not so inclined you can now get them in the UK from Sanef, www.noq4gb.co.uk
The Liber-t tags are excellent - I got mine from APRR - I actually look forward to tolls now - watching all the other cars peel off and join a queue while you just coast through . It also means my wife can stay asleep (machines are all on the left) so more peace & quiet for me

Dont speed, dont take a radar detector, comply with the usual vehicle requirements etc

Thankyou very much for that link, sounds like it could save lots of time and hassle. Ordered it this morning.

i did a journey a while back from la havre to bordeux and i do not remember paying any tolls. definately tolls the calais way , about 80 each way sounds about right. that is a long trot out of your way to go across the millau viaduct, i went that way a couple of years back and although chuft to bits to go over it, it is a massive dissapointment if you do not stop at the viewing point prior to going over it . if you do not stop you will think you are going over dartford bridge! in all it lasts about a minute. i videod the whole thing just so i do not for get as i doubt i will ever go over it again in my lifetime...
