BBC F1 coverage cut

Yes but doesn't the BBC broadcast to quite a few other countries? Viewing figures quoted in the Times in June this year give peak figures of over 8 million. Brundle & Co are always saying hello to overseas viewers. If the BBC coverage is cut it will surely have a wider impact than just the UK.
This is where I fail to see how Sky can take this to another level, they wont be carting their camera's around the world they will have to rely on what is being broadcast locally.
Anyone know what the deal is with the whole broadcasting rights, in the respect I believe we have to watch what the local broadcaster is transmitting, we have no control over what's actually shown other than at Silverstone.
Could Sky fly their multitude of camera's in ?? that would the only benefit, not having to rely on the local tv director giving you the right shots, last weeks German was a good example, last lap and they were sticking with Vettel, we nearly missed Lewis crossing the line !

WHAT A ******* LOAD OF ******* BOLLOX !!!
As from next season, I won't be watching F1 anymore. I have never missed a race is over 20 years. This is Bollox. What's the point in watching half a season?

Obviously I'm biased, but it is a brilliant series with some quality close high speed racing.
You should see the coverage Channel 7 give this series, it's 14 rounds, most are 2 races, bar Bathurst and Perth, one on a Sat and one on a Sun TV coverage start at 10:00 and goes through until 17-18:00 on both days, many arguments with the wife and kids ensued
Only downside is Motors only show it a week after the race(bar Bathurst which is live) which keeps me out of the V8 Forums and websites and Craig Lowndes Twitter account avoiding the result for a bloody week, no point commentating a week after the race in the forums !

Lets keep it on topic please. If you want to discuss V8 ( and its a good series ) start another thread.
Whitmarsh said
"What we need to understand is whether the large audience we currently enjoy in Formula 1 will be maintained. I think we also need to understand exactly how this is being done."
Of course it wont be maintained you idiot. People aren't going to pay £200 a year to watch 10 races.
F1 has shot itself in the foot. Again.

Will be interesting to see how Sky schedule this against their usual Sunday live events, it will up against the Premier League, Rugby League, Golf and Rugby Union. I can see Sky Sports 5 happening

Motors TV even has RC racing on which is more interesting than say F1 Valencia.
The dutch GT season was good too. Even the JGTCC was worth a watch and I think it's a shame it's not on Motors TV anymore.
Why can't we have F1TV and actually pay for it? I'd do that.

As an avid F1 fan I'm really peed off with this.
Sky will milk this to get the most money out of it, therefore all the casual F1 viewers the Beeb's picked up over the past few years wont watch it and viewers will go down.
My new home can only have Sky, do they expect me to fork out a load of extra money just for half an F1 season as I have no interest in Football or Cricket
I wont be paying out for Sky's F1 coverage
Has anyone seen the Williams manager Parr's comments saying F1's expensive and it has to be paid for, cheeky ******!

But if you look at it from a different angle it costs about that to go to one live race.
Plus you are not paying £200 quid a year to watch 10 races you are paying £200 quid a year to watch ALL the other sporting events you do not get on FV. Which in itself is not FV as it costs 150 quid for a tv licence doesn't it?

If only the main teams would split and form another race series, the smaller teams would probably follow, problem solved

As I understand, the teams will play the concorde agreement card which states that F1 was remain free to air. Bernie's get out clause will be 'some of it still will be!'.
That Alan Parr from Williams is f&cking idiot. He announced Patrick Head's retirement....when he wasn't going to retire.

Yes, I do place the blame at the BBC's door. £5million a year from Jonathon Ross? Really?
Bernie is also a two faced tw&t. I really hope that this deal is not legal. The concorde agreement states that is must remain free to air. Not some of it, but all of it.

So we assume the contract doesn't specify that every race must be FtA and Bernie has managed to convince BBC to keep a bit of the season FtA and not be in breach of contract?

But then the main F1 fans will want to watch every race, end up getting sky and therefore never watch it on the Beeb anyway! I really hope Brundle isn't out of a job. He makes it what it is. Sky no doubt will want to employ some idiot that has no clue about the sport, just good at presenting rumours and avoiding the facts.

It's not just people at home having to subscribe to Sky. Those pubs that can't /won't pay for Sky because Sky ask far to much money pa, generally have a sports programe on the telly for the pub goers to watch. And on an F1 weekend, it's generally F1 being shown.
So now, people can't even watch the F1 in the pub.
Also, being on Sky, you'll have more adverts through the race than ITV showed.
I really hope people don't pay to watch F1 on Sky. Sky will lose money, Bernie will lose money, and sponsers will lose money. Then Bernie will have to go back groveling to the BBC to start showing all the races.
