Lion OS X is here ....
I've cleared up the off topic posts and left the thread - only because it's of value to those people who are upgrading.
Please keep the posts to the topic in hand: post upgrade hints / tips / fails / successes.

my ubuntu pc takes about 8 seconds
after 20 years of reliance on Micro$haft for an OS my switch over to a Linux derivative has been both smooth and simple. Like Apple's IOS everything just works. I started with a dual boot Win XP and Linux but after a few months i found i didn't need Windows for anything. One reformat and an Ubuntu intallation later I have cut my ties to Mr Gates for good.

I just need a raid card and a 2 disk redundancy DAS and I'll be a bit quicker
A couple of tips:
1. When you have downloaded the installer, copy it off to a safe place for later, just in case you need it. Apple will be selling a USB key with Lion on it shortly (next month I think) but it's about $69 compared with $29 for the download. Not sure what it would cos in pounds, 40 - 75 probably. My understanding is that it is probably just the dmg file from within the installer package contents, which does appear to be bootable
2. If you have purchased, but not downloaded the installer, and you know someone else who has the installer on a drive, then you should be able to nab a copy of their installer and use your Apple ID to install it. It should prompt for Apple ID on launch / run and so just pop your credentials in. I've not seen confirmation wether this does actually work, but we do know that the installer checks your Apple ID, so I would assume if it saw a purchase record for Lion then it would work.
This would be a nice easy way to prevent you having to download a rather large file. You can of course do that later.

Installed on all 3 Mac's in my household, impressed so far. 1 thing, in firefox I can no longer use a 3 finger swipe to go back & forward with web pages. Any suggestions?

You can change backwards and forwards to 3 fingers in the touchpad control preference. That'll fix Firefox until they update it, which will be soon I'm sure. Chrome is the same, awaiting update.
I've just started using my trackpad with my Macbook, Wow! Amazing how much better a few extra centimetres makes gestures. Anyone want to buy a core 2 iMac or swap for a core 2 duo?

I have been practising in front of the mirror
Weird, the menu shows it as ^(shift icon)(right arrow icon) which to me means control-shift-rightarrow, but that combo does not work for me, it's actually command-shift-rightarrow and command-shift-leftarrow to go back a tab.
One frustration I have found with 10.7, SAMBA (smb) has changed, seems it's only version 2.0, and this caused a problem for me as I have shares accessible via SMB on my mac, mainly my Media drive that is connected to the iMac.
Since upgrading to Lion I have had problems with XBMC, both on an xbox an AppleTV1. I can connect to the shares but cannot play any media files.
After some searching I found this blog. Essentially you install Samba3 and then everything works again
The only issue I had with the info on the blog was that the LaunchAgent would not auto-start on reboot, easily fixed with a KeepAlive tag added to the config though.
I'm not sure if the same problem would be seen by Boxee or even a PC attempting to access files on an Lion machine
