Also have a full gas bottle now, as the shop that used to do them... will still do them, if you go in and ask them...

Not sure if the leak question was directed toward me but if it was....
No leaks, just forgot to turn it off at lights, when I moved off it engaged and rattled some what. bout five mins later lots of blue smoke
, drove home gently on 3 cyls.
It was a 306 by the way, not that that makes any difference, I know it was way too much for a standard engine, it was more of an experiment as I was buliding a turbo motor for that car and wanted to see what a similar block could take (bit silly really, she had only done 24,000 miles

, second time the reconditioners threw it away after taking the rod off it, so no piccy's I afraid (wish I had)

sorry, I meant my co2 bottle for the welder.. 
Prototype up pipe from tim w... needs some bolts welding onto plate at the top... looks good though..

Got this lot of some sort of diesel engine in a skip at the scrap yard and they still charged me a fiver..
Pressed the whole think apart...

Bracket in place..

About to tack the centre in place, (red thing is a magnet)

I re-read the chapter on Nitrous-assisted turbos this morning. Vizard reccomends a 10hp (0.6lb/min)jet, not 50. Each shot of N2O will only be around 0.5 - 1 second so the use of nitrous is quite economical.
It wan't as comprehensive as I remember it to be, but there are some good points in it. He doesn't mention any figures as for when to turn off the N2O, one graph shows a motor with a peak boost of 15psi with an N2O switch-off window of between 7 and 12psi. However in the text he throws the figure of 3 to 4 psi about, without stating any actual reccomendations. A bit of trial and error is needed, I guess, to make it smooth.
On the plus side, on forced induction motors, that 10hp shot will actually have an effect of around 15 - 20hp due to the intercooler effect.
I'll try and scan it in over the weekend at a friends house, it's only actually 4 pages

if you can tack them quickley they should be fine, too much heat will damage them as they will lose their temper.
10.9 bolts should be fine, 12.9 better and both widely available. Not sure of the thread though looks like M10 fine. Probably best to ket 'K' nuts, and silver plated ones if possible.
Don't use stainless, they are designed not to rust, rather than not to break.

oh and I got the idea of Pat as I saw his car first... but I know what you mean!! I was going to use two belts and drive one off the air con pulley..

David when i had to grind the 2 top bolts off my turbo where the dp connects i got high tensile replacements. No problems with them and thats after 10000 mils. I know your probably after a more technical answer, but just thought i would add my 2p worth.

David i think i got the kit from TS something near silverston, i think someone mentioned it earlier in the thread, or in the Nitrous thread by New Scooby Fan, gice them a bell if you want smaller jets, or knowing you you will probably try an dmachine jour own
Just out of interest the part that you welded onto the bracket for the pulley, does that rotate with the pulley or is it fixed. It looks like it does rotate. Dont want too much wear on the belt.

I can let you have the bag of mixed jets I have to sort out the NOsing /fueling, I think i have jets down to 25bhp, got a sheet somewhere that gives a guide as to what size to use. can only let you have them after I have chawed the ones I need to set mine up tho

He may only reccomend a 10hp jet, because its for a 1300cc mini. I would try at least 40bhp. Even if you dont have the book, IMHO it is worth buying. It makes very good reading if you are into that kinda thing. Your tensioner idea looks familiar, and I would lose the bracket on the pass side. I dont think its going to support very much, unless the picture isnt revealing all. An idler pulley of a subaru timing belt would also be useable, and there must be plenty of them around, as there is a couple on every engine, of which there must be loads of broken ones around.

stevieturbo.. it goes further down and bolts onto the head just infront of the inlet as well..
I thought someone would mention this.. I think Ill use a 50bhp jet then as thats as small as I have...

David, I like the idea of your bracket, it's a bit neater than the Pat method
but how thick is the material you used? Bearing in mind that it's a pulley tensioner it really musn't flex, IIRC Pat used 10mm plate for his which as ususal may have been a bit OTT, but it won't flex!

As someone said earlier, you need to be able to turn the nitrous off without a downward step in the power, thats going to be harder to acheive with a 50hp jet, although I don't think it's impossible. Certainly I don't think a 50hp jet will do any harm, but I think it's going to be harder to set it up "right".
