DIY FMIC Project....
Hiya David,
I'm not one for making things (IKEA flat pack stuff does me over
) but it occours to me that you could have probably built an ENTIRE scoob from scratch
Stop messing around with the FMIC and take on a proper project!
Only kidding, nice one and VERY informative, cheers
Mikey

Dont mean to worry you but.. I almost did build the scoob...
Ill scan some pictures of the quarter panel off / new one being welded on... the body jack on the suspension... the creased floor..oh yeah and you need to peel the roof away from the car to get the quarter panel under it!!!
Didnt have a digital camera / camcorder when I did that... or changed the clutch / wing/ brakes / interior

New cam / head??
Eitherway wanted some new tappets / head gasket / cambelt / stem oil seals.... will be done over weekend..

And rebuilding a nasty 1400cvh.. worn cam, tappets, never had an oil change... fitting a clutch... the list goes on..
I am really going to start on it at the weekend again...
Watch this space... Also have bought the vacumn and injection hosing that I needed.
Just waiting for some other supension type bits to turn up now..

Ball and chain dictates that its not allowed.....
Re Escort engine...
Its a birds car... I took head off as it was down on compression on three cylinders... I was hoping it was just a head gasket... But engine had a nasty oil leak at the back... and had a slipping clutch... so I pulled block out and degreased it... cleaned sump out degreased oil pickup... fitted three piece clutch (30quid) put cam belt on bottom pulley (8quid) fitted new sump gasket.. £1.50 I then dropped the block back in... Now rebuilding head on the bench... valves were all ok.. cleaned them up and reseated them as they were out anyway... fitted stem oilseals (£10 for headset), fitted second hand cam and tappets out of a 40,000 mile escort.. £10 just need to finish building up, and also drain oil from tappets so valves will close...
Also fitted new core plugs.. (99p) all in all pretty cheap.. car is really nice and tidy.. mk4?
And what am I getting for doing it... **** all... why do I do these things?

not that nice... but its personality that counts isnt it?
She probably will **** it again... It used to leak oil so it got topped up weekly... which she thought was as good as an oil change... shame about the filter really...
Anyway need to get this done and out of the garage as Ive got to do burrs car on thursday.. then get on with mine...
Fancy a change though... seen a crash damaged supra tt quite cheap..
Must finish subaru... must finish subaru... must..
This thread's got a bit crap recently hasnt it? best finish tapping inlet...
Incidently what is the bore size of the HKS Hiper exhaust where the downpipe fits to it?

David,
Do you think Burr might like his luuurvly sounding down pipe fitted to my car so you can both get your fix occasionally?
I supply my car for you to fit it too for free!!!!
I want to decat my car but cannot afford it at the moment.. what with having to get the oil seal changed (bummer)...
Should have got the belt changed at a decent rather than cheap garage last time, they would have probably changed the crank seal then too... that'll learn me... then again maybe they wouldn't.
I am beginning to think that getting my hands more dirty than I do already would help.

Try this -
ftp: burratha.d2g.com
port: 21
login: david
pass: wallis
or: ftp://david:wallis@burratha.d2g.com/
My ftp is going up now, and I'll take it down again at 8:00pm.
That link won't work because of the UBB code on this board.
copy/paste the following bold text into the address bar of IE.
ftp://david:wallis@burratha.d2g.com/

Just bear in mind, if you use the IE method, the FTP site becomes like a normal explorer window, where you'll have to copy/paste the file onto your own pc. Don't shut down the window whilst you do it, otherwise you'll lost the file.

Shock Horror...
as I live at home with parents.. means I have slight perks.. one of which is the use of Dad's Dv Camcorder... Which takes photos.... Only thing is he's off on holiday for a week tomorrow... so no pics for a week... (nowt new there you say
)
I still have to put the head back on the escort, and do another downpipe for someone so wouldnt be getting much done anyway...
My new lower strutbrace arrived today!
Had chance of a scoobysport d/pipe last night but decided against it as I didnt think the 2.5" reduction was acceptable.. Want 3" to my HKS Hiper... Watch this space..
Also have bought plenty of fuel and vacumn hose now..
Should be back on track soon.

i have an hks downpipe sat in the garage which i bought for my my99, put it on and it seemed to be too short for this model (pulled back box anto antiroll bar).
replaced with scoobysport downpipe, fitted perfectly.
later told hks pipe i had been sold was designed for pre 99my (has 2 sensor ports in it).
anyway you can try it if you like, if it works we'l do a deal. Cost me £200 3 years ago, been sat in parennts garage for last 2 years 51 weeks collecting dust. Did 75 miles with on.
let me know either way, as i work in leeds and come in from the a64 down the inner link road!!
