I suppose i am both nowadays as i have done around 200 miles last month on the bike, and i would estimate that half of them were on the road.
In that month i have seen some appalling things, nearly been knocked off around 4 times (although 3 times the driver waved to say sorry so thats ok then )
Last week i was cracking on coming home from my regular 11 mile test route, and the return part is on road, the road has width restrictions to keep the traffic speed down i am doing around 20mph approaching another restriction, and this utter cocksocket in an old Range Rover with charver black window tints overtakes at the last minute to then cut me up so he can get through the width restriction so i hit the brakes hard and retightend up my sphincter (it was just about to drop my last meal)
The most pathetic thing about this, is that after the width restriction the traffic was backed up anyway to the next roundabout and the daft ****er had to stop, so i cruised on past him, and past the 10-15 cars all waiting to turn right, it was a further 3-4 mins before i even saw him again and he "caught up"
At the next roundabout he was held up yet again so i did the same, i have to say i felt smug as **** the bike is a MTB so i just bunny hopped up onto the path and freewheeled past him while sticking my thumb up,

When the police went round he denied all knowledge of any incident.
The broken mirror and the blood were a dead giveaway.

P.S. Are you trying to perpetuate the "Northern Monkey" image here by choice or are you a sophisticated wind-up merchant ?

Its brilliant, just knocked 1.5 mins off my best time
Falling off is no biggy as i expect to come off it a lot due to the way i have been flinging it about off road (even though one off the offs was outside my kitchen window lmfao)
Nearly being hit by cars 4 times is unacceptable though, maybe my 6th sense needs a few tweaks, or maybe i have just been unlucky so far, the missus is pretty scared of the road and refuses to use it, my mates dont like it much either.

I used to cycle a lot. Only ever got hit once, and that was partly because of very bad rain and it was just a slow speed off when a car turned right at a junction in front of me (I was going the other way).
To be honest I didn't help matters by not having any hi-vis stuff on.
Many times I have had close calls, sometimes by cm's. You can't control everything as a cyclist but you can be very aware of what is going on and cycle smart. Just say observing the head of the driver in front you can get an idea of what they are doing even before they indicate...that is one example.

I nearly had stern words with a cyclist today as just as I was about to overtake he decided to indicate right and move to the middle of the road a ridiculously long time before he was turning. Just on the verge of throwing a strop but I decided that seeing as I am about to get a bike to ride to the gym and back, I will soon be one of those lycra losers myself. I will not however be wearing those camp cycling outfits or one of those gay helmets.

after being hit be a pensioner doing sixty mph, I can tell you it's not even close to funny.
