I got 34 mpg out of my new 320r yesterday on a 50 mile leisurely trip
Then I got on the open roads up to North Skye, and stretched the cars legs . All in the 260 mile round trip averaged 29mpg. Pretty good considering the performance.
I use the Mrs 1 series BMW for work - good to drive and returns an easy 60mpg on a run, £30 tax, £250 for 5yrs / 50k serviceing.
But its the scoob that puts a smile on my face.

Just had a quote of over £500 for a nearly 10 year old diesel Renault Clio!

WTF is going on with insurance at the moment? How can they justify trying to charge people that?

My scoob was always a toy so not in the same boat as most of you.

But iv'e been a fan of bangernomics for years now, all my vehicles serve a purpose.

Rover 200 daily driver shopping trolly pub rolerskate, garden waste skip, 42mpg 180 road tax cost £800 done almost 20k trouble free, goes and handels well for what it is.

Isuzu trooper 3.1 td stands me at 1k 30 ish mpg done 50k long story but lives on a mountian in croatia.

transporter crew cab 4x4 2.5 30 ish mpg cost 1.8k stands me @ 2.5 ebay special.

type r dare not add the cost 15mpg if i'm lucky drive it like i stole it

new cars = waste of money imho.

Pay £800 insurance for the lot

i have a vectra C CDTI as a 1st car. looking at it in the real world your not actually saving that much if any at all. factor in insurance tax mot fuel etc and i doubt anyone would spend the total costs of a 2nd car on a scoob in a year..

i done really to save miles on the car.
