At least this thread is in the right place now though

FLAC FTW !
As for another "quantum leap in computing"...
The under-powered laptop tech used by Apple needs all the help it can get from the icloud...

P.S. Didn't Rank Xerox create the mouse, and Apple borrowed it...

An excellent post and something lost on most of the iPod generation.
The quality of most 'music' stored on iPods and their ilk is nothing short of atrocious quite frankly. Put an iPod through a proper hi-fi system and prepare for a shock at just how bad it is.
I did it once and would not want to repeat the experience LOL!

Sure, big, quality sound is great in the home, but for 99% of people, iPod and its ilk have been fantastic.
The tiny minority who care can still spend large amounts of money to get the quality they want.

There is far too much software out there that doesn't run on a MAC. Which means dual booting windows which then doesn't have enough computing power to keep up with said software.
But I think you are rather missing the point of iPod and other mobile music players. It's convenience rather than quality. Why would you need professional quality sound whilst jogging, or in the gym, or walking down town, or whatever else situation you may be in that requires you to play music on the go?

What gets on my nerves though is that the marketing people have done a number on the public and people growing up today think MP3/AAC (or rather the default compression levels used by most iPods/MP3 players etc.) is the best it gets when nothing could be further from the truth.
Mine's an i7 is there an i8? And yes it's true that I can run Windows fully supported by Apple, something that doesn't work the other way around.
What does the battery life have to do with it when it's plugged in? For roaming around you revert it back down to a more subtle speed that copes with the usuals easily.
Just saying that OSX won't run everything that it needs to and once you load windows it's not up to par.

So what can a MAC run that Windows can't? Other than Apple branded software Windows runs everything. Whereas there is lots of software that is designed only for Windows. Espescially in the Engineering market.
The point that seems to have been missed (or conveniently ignored), is that Apple have done a great job of giving the public access to compressed music.
The key being COMPRESSED music. The icloud service can't give you better music than the CD (which is a better quality format, sonically). They can offer the ability to stream full-quality audio, but it won't be better than the CD version, because it can't be
Anybody who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves somewhat (and I'm NOT targeting Jack in this case
- just making a general comment)
Roll on launch date - will be quite interesting to see how it works.

Looks like Jack is not the most extreme Apple mentalist out there:

I'm far from it. I rarely discuss Apple outside of Scoobynet and I wouldn't discuss it as much on here if there wasn't a hoard of Anti-Fanboys that got so wound up by Apple achievements, now they really are mental.
I stumbled on this quote yesterday.
"Also, by snooping around for articles about Mac tips and professing your love for its competitors, you're 100x more annoying than any Mac user could be. Just because you choose to buy cheap **** and replace it all the time doesn't mean everyone has to. "

I'm your Personal Troll. There's a huge difference between someone trying to wind up the whole community and someone who only winds up you and your ilk. 90% of people find this post informative, but for you it's like a firework up the butt.
Anyhow, you're early the announcements start at 6PM not AM. See you later fanboy.

As for your 90%??? LOL. 90% probably think you are a boring repetitive bell end, that's more like it!

I have no need for a laptop ( nor a sci-fi phone ), so explain how this overpriced monstrosity is better than my fully loaded i7 960 @ 4 GHz that top's out at under £1000 ?
VS a dual core i7 @ £3210 ! " Featuring the superb Intel Dual Core 2.3GHz i7 processor "
