Did you swap it for the subaru ? Is your GT-R now for sale somewhere ? Did you take it to the Nurburgring after ?

Wow didn't expect you to sell it that quick but what a change!
Is that practical in terms of driving it on the road at civilised speeds I mean? I know the GTR doesn't really come alive until 3 figures are on the dial but at least you could drive it sedately when you wanted to.

My last scoob rally car was basically a GP N with a larger restrictor , that was running 1.56 bar of boost , this thing is high compression and 3 bar of boost , chalk and cheese in every area , the new one is awesome.

No I wasn't planning on selling it , was looking into buying another group N Impreza , but was told these have similar running costs , but could only buy one if I sold the GTR , loved the Nissan , is a mental car , but done it , ticked it off my bucket list , and onto the next on the list

It is a real one and does have a use , but I'd rather not have one as they bloody leak on you when it rains !

I was told years ago that the mechanicals of a WRC car were so different and exotic so that they bore no resemblance to the road car in terms of maintenance. Is this true?

The engine looks the same , apart from that the mechanicals are totally different , my one has an active front and centre diff , and the rear diff is a spool diff , which is basically a solid axle , so it makes all kinds of bangs and noises when moving , sounds like its ready to fall out !

Can't wait to use it in anger

Just to add , the engine and running gear needs a total rebuild every thousand miles ! So are miles apart with regards to maintenance .

yea but surely that maintenance schedule is if the car was still being used on a WRC stage in anger? With respect I'm sure you're a good driver but i dont think you would be giving it quite the same stick that a mr mcrae might have done in the 90s

No I don't think anyone will be on par with him , he was awesome , but still , all WRC car parts are lifed , in the Prodrive manual the mileage is lower between rebuilds , it's quoting the engine at 500 stage miles with a rebuild cost if there's any damage at £18k !
So mine at 1000 miles and about £4k seems reasonable lol

Not sure yet , I have both gravel and Tarmac setups , it's in gravel setup now , but looking to do west cork in march so might get it swapped to Tarmac spec and do Brean as a shake down and just get used to it before jumping both feet first , just need to learn to drive it first

How come these things need rebuilds so regularly?

As far as I'm aware these engines threw out 320/320... is it because they produce that output across the entire range and are permanently at full boost or is it something else that I'm missing?

Limited to around 300bhp due to the restrictions but well over 500 lb/ft

Would they have used a spool on the rear on Tarmac stages out of interest?

I ran a 1.5 way on my old skyline and even that is no joke on road.

It's on your list as T22SRT , rallied by mike tomkinson , it was built by MSP but I can't find anymore info at the mo , I don't think it has been rallied with the current plate on it as I can't find anything.

I think the active diffs are what makes it go round corners lol , it's all new to me so I'm on a learning curve myself , drove the car for the first time today but only round our trading estate , **** me it bangs like hell turning round and doing 3 point turns , sound like the box and diffs are about to explode lol , maybe Colin had a say in it as he wanted no understeer at all only oversteer , and the videos I've been watching , there is plenty of that going on !

Thanks Ian, would appreciate any images I could use on the site. I've don't have any competition records for the plate either, looks like it used to be on a Skoda.

I only have limited info for the car.
