Of course but won't be for a while... Otherwise warranty is an issue. Access port sounds good, I like the "valet map" idea... Brilliant!!!

The last time i spoke to him in person though, he brought a TVR into the wash to take me for a spin, but i never had the time, been meaning to cadge a spin in the GTR ever since it was standard

As one Godzilla falls, another rises....AMS have solved the weak block issue and at 35psi their car makes 1318WHP and made a 9.05sec @ 166mph with traction issues!

60-130mph time is 3.46sec!!!

Thought it was a bit unfair doing the comparison tests with the Jag in wet conditions. The GTR wiped the Jag off the line, but at the flag the Jag was pretty close.

Same as the corner speed test. A 4WD car will always corner faster in the wet than a 500+BHP RWD car.

IMO it was Jaguar's choice to design in RWD, they could have chosen 4WD for more grip...

I should go for a test drive to make sure I fit in being 6' 4". Sounds like it needs some exhaust mods though, too quiet for my liking!

Doubt fit would be an issue.

Ypipe or full exhaust (many out of there... Meisterscraft sounds brilliant, but expensive)

And this one

I've been spending a fair mount looking on GTR forum researching, Y-pipe seems the first step. What's the consensus on ECU tweaking, Cobb or ECUTEK?

GTC and Miltek exhausts seem popular choices too, different ball game on prices compared to Scooby stuff though!

I heard there's 3 years free servicing on MY11 cars too?

Y-pipe is essential and warranty friendly. COBB is much more than ECUtek. ECUtek is simply a remap, cobb allows you to install and remove the map if you need to go dealer for service etc, also with COBB you can reset fault codes, 1/4mile/0-60mph etc plus there is option to take some control over your transmission perform the clutch re-learn, up the launch control etc. Depends what you want but there is a reason why COBB is used internationally and powers all the big builds

3 years free servicing is for an additional £500. So on the MY11 it costs £14k more than the MY10 for an extra 50bhp, few cosmetic tweaks....whether therefore servicing is "free" or just built into the new price is questionable.....

Lol, if it costs £500 for 3 years free servicing it ain't free servicing! I know what you mean about the MY11 but from what I read the ride is slightly better and it was quicker around the TG track. Who knows what tweaks it had though

What's the waiting time like on these beasts?

Yes much quicker, but i think that can be attributed to the launch control which is a second off the old time by the exit of the 1st corner, the fact the MY11 has 50bhp more and the fact that the old GTR was an import with 112mph limiter on it.....

Think they are redily available...

Graham, middlehurst fitted my y-pipe for me at the optimisation service. They said if there was any problems then they would switch the cat back on and hey presto.....subsequently i have had a gearbox replaced, and other warranty work done.....

Chris did say that they will do the ypipe and put the other in the boot, but never discussed further as they recommended not changing till after run-in... What is the run-in process?

The launch control has to be worth a bit.

I booked a test drive in two weeks at WLMG Slough, anyone had any experience with them? Are they Y-pipe friendly?

Also the Cobb custom tune, do they map it on the dyno properly there seems to be a lot of people sending logs back for tweaks...not sure I like that idea.

He said Blue is readily available, only seen Daytona blue in the flesh at Jaguar 50th Aniversary a few weeks ago.

yeh launch control is prob best part of 50% of the time improvement the other second coming from extra 50bhp and not limited to 112mph.

Slough seem to be ok. Y pipe they are going to have a tough time proving any fault is a result of that!

COBB can be mapped on dyno, most people e-tne them so run a WOT pull in 3rd gear and send file, tweak, repeat and then when tuner is done you are good to go
