Quite right, sadly.

Immigration (in some respects) may well be one of the problems this country faces, but it is just one issue amongst a whole list of others as you have mentioned.

I know the whole 'two wrongs don't make a right arguement', and I wouldn't necessarily disagree, however, it may be an area which requires more control but immigrants certainly aren't to blame for all the ills of this country as some users would like to make out.

To be honest if you can't be bothered to at least attempt to write properly why should I be bothered to read it?

There are still jobs 'white trash' could be forced to do. That really doesn't matter if we don't have a government willing to force them or significantly shake up the system to prevent this career scrounging that exists.

It's very easy to say the immigrants have stolen jobs, but they should never have been there to be stolen in the first place.

Tony would deal with others with a "If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear" attitude, he loves that sort of stuff when it comes to, say, stopping and searching brown people in the streets.

For himself however, he applies a different standard.

100% agree with the above. You do seem to have completely sidestepped anything to do

You could add uncontrolled immigration from EU and non-EU countries
Ghetto-isation and lack of integration into mainstream society in certain areas

The route if the problem is successive weak self-serving and self interested governments who have let the population down. being subnserviant to the EU and whatever rules it imposes on us is also strangling this country.
I do not have a problem with immigration as such, i do have a problem with immigration to do low skilled jobs that can easily be covered off by work-shy and carer/lifestyle unemployed and we should be forcing the work-shy to work first and then filling any gaps second.

It's very easy to say the immigrants have stolen jobs, but they should never have been there to be stolen in the first place.
With regards to the workshy career benefit claimants, we have a generation of children growing up in households where living off the state is the norm. The current system is easy to defraud for those who have grown up in this system; single parents popping out children left, right and centre claiming all the benefits under the sun to getting a bigger house and we also have "fit to work" people choosing not to work as they see themselves worse off by working. Of course "forcing" someone to do a job would go against their human rights!

I think the current government are trying to do what they can to end this benefit culture. They are looking to make radical changes to current system and do away with all the multitudes of different benefits with just a single universal credit system which should start kicking in in 2013. As we all know too well, obviously this one shoe fits all type of state benefit is not going to suite everyone and no doubt many people could be left out of pocket. But I hope that this reform will change the system so that it will be harder to milk the system and make it less attractive to live off the state and turn around the mindset of the current and the next generation that living off the welfare state is not a career option. Will the reform work, who knows, but I'd rather suffer some the pain that this reform will inevitably bring than continue with the status quo.

Yes, I think you're right. The current government are working very hard to undo the problems that you listed and the immigration and intergration issues that Lisawrx mentioned. I know most people agree that 13 years of socialism, window-dressed by effete, limousine liberalism, has meant that we all have to work hard together to get this country back on track and I can tell that people like you really want that to happen.

I know, although I don't think it's all of the press, there have been some Guardian pieces recently that were laughably disingenuous.

The Guardian is about the only paper that every now and talks any sense, but then given their political stance you wouldn't like what they write whether it be true or not would you now? Their piece on Libya and Cameron was spot on for instance!

It's easy to take that blanket cyclical stance, and I notice a lot of lefty types do, but the fact is we have an open press in this country and there laws etc to stop libel and we have a press complains commission etc.

Seems to be sometime people just us the fact that untruths have sometimes been told in the press, to bat away any fact that don't fit their world-view.

As the king of ignoring any fact that doesn't fit with your view I find that rather amusing.

As for the Telegraph do we have a link?

Thats a good start to be going on with and there will be more that can be added as we think of them of course.

From what I have seen over the years, a great deal of those things you mention stem from the example of the country's leaders. I seem to remember it started in earnest during Harold's time!

Having just read through this again it is refreshing that most people on this thread do actually seem to get the fact that immigration is not our biggest issue in the UK and that there are worse problems we need to sort out.

Oh, that article!

No they are statistics, not facts and there is a difference.

I give you post 123 as an example!
