Lisawrx- it really does sound like we work in the same place! Even the worst job can be made a bit better with good staff, unfortunately I work with quite a few brainless, straight out of school, no hoping bellends. Some people have the ability, patience and heart to work with the new wave gifted individuals, sadly I can't..

It seems to be a common problem that hard workers are taken advantage of or feel like they are unappreciated. But the fact remains you (and I) are just a number and easily replaced, and I am sure that will be the opinion of alot of people on this forum. Yes, we may be, but despite being in a meaningless job to some, us minions often work bloody hard for our money (called having pride) and it would be nice if some value was placed on us by employers once in a while.
This is the workplace in a nutshell. Employers expect motivation, loyalty and results, yet do little to help nurture these things. No matter what sector, or what role, most people live the majority of their lives at work, yet receive little or nothing for it.

Reward & Recognition was the buzz phrase when I was in customer services, but in truth it rarely happened - and what they did give with one hand, was taken by the other. On top of that as Lisa said the 'slackers' got away it, whilst the hard workers slogged their guts out for the same R&R. Companies wonder why people leave.

I struggle too, as per las night (well Tuesday) and that was working with someone the same age as me, very similar work experience that I went to school with.

The thing is, they know she (and others) are a bit ****, but they don't really suffer any consequences.

I got it in the neck the other day because there was one thing I overlooked (minor) because I had been given another larger task, I shouldn't have been given, that took up most of the afternoon. However, with nothing else expected, other people seem to get away with not even doing the basics, yet alone any extras.

Yep my last job and it was well publicised on here. Medical grounds were the reason "not being able to fulfil contractural obligations" was their line.

It affected what work I could and still can do but I'm in a much happier work place and being trained for nationally recognised qualifications and a trade. Sometimes the grass IS greener, you just have to get over the boggy marshland first

here here totally agree with these sentiments , our md has blocked a payrise for the last 3 years, but then he can afford to take the hit on £485000 a year . unless you ar a yes man/woman and have buttkissed your way up the ladder you will allways be just a number

Got let go from my last job, last one in first one out deal.

Now I'm a working professional getting paid over three times what I was on. Sometimes you just need the FEAR.

Yes, and I'm quite glad looking back on it as the company moved premesis just after I left and then went belly up.

Luckily not, and there were an amazing number of reasons that you could get cashierd for.

It certainly encouraged you not to push your luck.

Its a bit like having a dog, everyone else notices it whereas you become used to it but then there are those days that the dog is extra smelly!

It hasn't improved infact I'd say its worse.
