enthusiast yes i am , iv had 8 subarus or us it 9 lol
but iv also had a evo , mr2 turbo inbetween , and always come back to subaru
yes i like rally cars and yes for most its £££ for bhp that they buy them for
because if i had £££££££ in the bank i most prob wouldnt have one ( well one that is as good as the rc one ;-) prob )

its like your all slagging it off tho , it is what it is , a 2 door subaru thats a uk car,
also remember the people who have type r's couldnt afford a p1 ( before you all start slagging me off , this is fact, as iv been there )
5 years ago p1's was mmmm 12k ish , you could get a type r for 7k

God this thread is as worthless than Bin Ladens *** right now. Who gives a **** which subaru is better than the other, who gives a **** were the cars heretage came from, or compairing it to any other??
Seriously, people slate the engine's letting go, in all subarus not just the P1. Whos cares what one cars worth than the other.

Im sure some of the single cell organisams posting on this thread who drives j'reg wrx's with go faster decals and a fluffy dice and thinks his cars got the cult status as the limited editions out there.

People and threads like this is why I think this site is crap. Only good areas is the techi parts.

you *****, most of them are at bargain end of market mate, purely because they are nothing special so could easily afford one, although would never bother to, they are nothing special compared to some scoobs out there, most of which have been mentioned in previous posts, so i wont bother going over them again.

Good god there is some utter Crap being written here.

For a start the JDM STI , STI Type R and P1 have exactly the same engine and I mean identical there is no difference whatsoever!!!

Using skullfudges car as an example of telling us how good the P1 is isn't exactly reasonable. Other than the seats, the front splitter, spoiler and spot lights there's nothing left standard on the car. Its had a new engine based around a block from an early classic, it has a Motec ECU, a six speed from newage and EXE-TC coilovers so other than the the interior and the cosmetics how on earth is that representative of a standard P1? It's a fooking lovely motor but its so far removed from a standard P1 it cannot be used to convince us all how good they are.

So maverick or whetever your name is, turn and burn dude and get your butt above the hard deck blah blah blah

I wont, but its true though this entire thread is made up of "my child looks better than yours" and quite frankly I dont care if a RA is better or worse than a P1, or if one cars set up for dohnuts or drag racing, its all a farce.

Ok "Impreza" then. . . . quite pandantic.

Im sure the "you and your subaru" Haynes book as evey model listed in there and to which year it was released too IIRC.

The company has lost its way in so many ways and if its not careful it will of course go to the wall. its designers are out of sorts and its engineering is failing to inspire people to stay with the brand. The competition has pulled away whilst they have stood still
I think you should take a look on google (rear subframe cracks) and various other issues on both E36 & E46 M3's before making your 'hewn from granite BMW build quality statement'.On your other points i have no issue.
As a P1 owner of a couple of years all i can say is its a good car but not a great one imho ( i will always have a soft spot for my old Integrale).Let's see if the values go the same way which i think they will, but only for low mileage standard examples.Limited editions however good or bad are still limited editions, and the Prodrive affiliation will keep the cult status for the P1 strong.
As for this site, well boys will be boys....

Cant see impreza getting close to integrale money. I didnt like the 'grale i drove and drove a p1 that afternoon and chose to buy anothet impreza. 'Grales are now double what they were and that was 4 years ago. Even the sh1tty jap imports are over ten grand.

Personally i thought the grale was pants compared to the p1 which was a big let down as my heart was set on a grale.

Id also comment on owning old scoobs. Most of the scabby ones are now being broken due to insurance and fuel. Ironically it might increase impreza value because only real enthusiasts will put up with the costs.

I do think the p1 is expensive for what it is but look at uk300 or rb5. No real difference to base car but couple of grand more for good ones. Limited models are always going to be a bit more.

Personally I would take a 22B over a P1, would not have any sort of hatch, but am very happy with my JDM Hawk Spec C Type 20 thanks very much!!

They are all brilliant cars but people seem to over look the fact it horses for different courses. Personally I got a P1 because I wanted a UK spec car and the connection to prodrive was an added bonus. Also the 2 door shell is one of the best shapes that Subaru produced.

I do love the P1 but obviously there are certain models that better it in different ways. You can't really say that any model tops it in every department, which is why it's such a good car.

Im not quite sure you understand the concept here, they all run a very similar production method, some materials will be different but when they are put together its virtually identical, yet you say its better built or do you mean that the quality of the materials used are better in the BMW (though look at the 1 series and you may be shocked )

Why has it lost its way? because it now produces a hatchback which looks similar to a main stream car?
Lets look at ford, put them in a line (face on) and stand back, do the same for vauxhall, then BMW, citroen and peugeot do it too, damn all the manufacturers do it, all the cars look quite similar, so subaru are following the market trend, which in turn keeps them in business.
I will agree that they are not selling that many cars in the UK, this isnt because the cars are no longer popular, its due to the difference between the yen and the pound sterling, that over inflates the prices of the cars coming in, IM shove their bit on there too, dealers need their cut, spares go up also due to the difference in currency, but they have not lost their way (just look at the US market, its more prosperous than it has been for quite some time for subaru), and like everything, it has its ups and downs (considering that between 2003-2005 subaru had its best ever time since it moved into the UK and that was when the currency was at a high for the UK and low for Japan, now its just the other way round).

If anything, seeing the developement of new engines from Subaru is a promising sign of things to come, new diesels and petrol units, quite rare from any manufacturer to develope a totally new unit rather than use an old one as a base

Tony
man you are so delusional its untrue and so in love with the fairy tale that subaru are feeding you. even top gear and fifth gear had the hatch on their programs and slated it. Tiff even had a p1 and a latest version car and wanted the classic over the new age ant day, watch it on you tube. So are you saying that people like that dont know what they are talking about!!? Get you head above water mate before you drown in your heritage and history. I can tell you Subaru UK dont give a damn about their past I have first hand dealings with them regarding it!! You blame the yen the rest of us blame design just like the bug eye that had to be redesigned cause it looked so bloody woeful. They are not selling cause they look so ****! we would all love to have them at the top of the tree again but until they start emplying designers with flair and vision it just will not happen. The hatch is a pig and saloon ain't much better
