P1's - are they all the hype?

Is the P1 the best Scooby ever?

ScoobyDoo69 30 April 2011 02:46 PM

No. End of.

chrispy200+ 30 April 2011 02:47 PM

Nope

dan2926 30 April 2011 02:49 PM

Certainly not :cuckoo:, you have sti type r, Type RA etc which are just as desirable if not more.

22B Is the best scooby ever :thumb:.

Yamarashi 30 April 2011 02:50 PM

Depends what purpose you want the car for really.

Looks, handling, usability, gear ratios etc all come into it and for me the P1 or 22B are probably up there:thumb:

Rosy 30 April 2011 02:51 PM

Yes

chopperman 30 April 2011 02:53 PM

RB320 is the best

dazdavies 30 April 2011 02:58 PM

22B bar non is the best of the lot!

Na all depends what you have had in the past to compare it on. Think it comes down to personal choice. But if i could have any scoob it would be the 22B no questions asked.

bonesetter 30 April 2011 03:00 PM

OK so is there any defining aspect which makes the 22B better than the rest?

Midlife...... 30 April 2011 03:02 PM

exclusivity, body, 2.2 litre............ to name but 3 LOL

Shaun

chris_wrx 30 April 2011 03:04 PM

2.2 only 400 made and wide arched at 22000 for a second hand one

type r plus hta body kit and a stroker kit 10000

is exclustivity worth 10000 plus

Apart from the look of the car see the link below.

http://www.22b.com/media_jap22b.htm

lol i like the line ''Previous experience of regular Impreza Turbos is of little use'' :)

L.J.F 30 April 2011 03:11 PM

the p1 aint worth a wank tbh mate, either spec c or 22b for top of the range.

macmac 30 April 2011 03:11 PM

similar to a poll on the isdc , 22b or 400 bhp hatch spec c .

which would you have ??????

hatch is in the lead so far ,and was my choice also

chopperman 30 April 2011 03:16 PM

22b is a good looking car but very over priced and over rated imo.

Have you drove/owned one mate? Cant say ive had the privelage

Luckyscoob 30 April 2011 03:19 PM

2007 Spec c RA-R or Litchfield Type 25 Hawkeye would be my choice :thumb:

of which mine is neither :lol1:

bonesetter 30 April 2011 03:20 PM

IThe 22B is quite a different Scooby to most

But what about the P1?

How does it match to say a Type R, or even a 4 door STi? The gearing is different I know and there's ABS/DCCD, but real world driving experience?

I owned a Type R and thought it one of the funnest Scoobies

I have a type r sti at the mo and i think it is far superior than the P1 (But hey thats just my own opinion after owning both). Normal STI, P1 is probably overall better but dont come close to the type r :thumb:

stef_2010 30 April 2011 03:29 PM

P1 doesnt have DCCD

Type R and P1 are basically the same car

People say in real world driving you dont use the dccd, well I certainally do and it was the main selling point over a P1 for me

DCCD or ABS, no brainer really :)

Must admit i have not but looking at the performance figures posted in the link above it was good in its day but not exceptional, not for 40k.

I joined the P1 forum yesterday to ask about a possible buy and yes it's like you're in rarefied air over there ;) :)

L.J.F 30 April 2011 03:58 PM

11yrs on and still worth over 20k says it all really! what other car apart from spec c or Ra-R can hold there value or are as desireable to own?

doormatty 30 April 2011 05:25 PM

Got to admit i had a p1 and thought it was the dogs bollox and could not be convinced by anything till a friend arrived in a Litchfield Type 25

Makes the P1 look terrible
also a friend has a new hawkeye 2.5 with full Prodrive added
excellent cars

Sold the P1 soon

L.J.F I'll take you out for a serious raggin in my P1.

("Wank" may come into the equation) :D

My last Scooby was a 04 V-Ltd STi JDM 370/360 with a properly set-up lowered suspension, very similar to the 25. It did fast too well, had to do silly speeds to even start to feel it. I prefer a classic. The Type R was the funnest scooby out of the many owned, which is why I've decided to go back to one (or a P1) :)

Are they feck!

They share the shame shell and engine, that's it!

I've always thought of the P1 as being a toned down for the UK market version of the Type R.

Skullfudge, Although it is bloody lovely yours doesn't count as 500 bhp and £100K later isn't really a fair comparison.

Would like to add that next to a 22B a Hawkeye Spec C or Litchfield's version of the same would be my other choice.
