MOT due no Cat :(
There is no referrence to Japanese import's in those articles, It is assuming that the car was built for the european market as far as I can tell
There seems to be a lot of conflicting information

there is, kind of, those vehicles are not in the database or the in service emissions book so its a cat test using default limits according to the chart
I was under the impression if they had no records of it in their database then it could be done as a non cat test, Maybe it has changed in the last 2-3 years, Wouldn't surprise me, Seem's a bit backwards though
ive just phoned 4 local mot stations, they basically havent got a fookin clue, but they all say if the car is after 1992 import or not it needs a cat and has to comply with uk regs!
most of them are arragant ***** aswell!

most of them are arragant ***** aswell!
that would apply to pre 96 vehicles only i think

So will get cat fitted today new plates, brake pipes was an advisory so will be doing them aswell. then back in for retest. Other than that she is fine
Couldnt even be persuaded by showing him i had a cat for it.

It is pretty simple. The flow below shows. When you get to the last diamond, if your vehicle IS an import you must answer NO. Note the phrase 'exact match'. The Emissions Handbook/database ONLY hold information on UK/EU vehicles and therefor an 'exact match' CANNNOT be found for any import.
