Thanks.

Lewis, its you who thinks the STi is poor value. So you find a car that is better value. Not a second hand car with less power and only 3 doors. You couldn't even find a 2wd one.

Why do you persist with this continual belief that its a poor value car when you can't better it? Is it because your life is as sad as your number of posts suggest? Or is it because you know you've bought an old dog of a diesel that Honda had to flog to people like you before they had to dump them?. I suspect its a bit of both.

No I haven't.
Would I?, Yes. But perhaps not when you come up with a better value car that can keep up with it.

Oi! - My Mrs has a diesel.

1 series, 140 odd brake, re-gen brakes, auto stop-start, active aero dynamics, 60mpg, £30 road tax. Would you believe that's way better than, say, a civic?

Right, I've had a look .... nice scenery!!

Looks like an old Hatchback you have? .... why not change it??

And, I must ask, is keeping up with the car in front the number 1 obscession with you - and why do you think you need to 'prove' yourself in such a way?

By the way - my Mrs. has a Scooby!!

One which does 40mpg and doesn't have AWD! I#d say that was better than a STi

Yes, I would say that's better than a Civic. That said, other things that are better than a Civic include:

1. Experimental bowel surgery with a blunt stick

2. Catching your scrotal sack in a driveshaft at 8,000rpm

3. AIDS

Yeah the scenery is fantastic up here. So are the roads, built for a scooby.

Keeping up with the car in front isn't an obscession. Don't find many cars in front of me, or keeping up with me for that matter.

I'll change it when I'm ready, or find something better, or the notion takes me.

Change it for something whose engine lasts longer than 3 months or 5,000 miles?

She was pleasing the Subaru Salesman - I know, I sent her there ....... I mean, jeeeez, he hasn't sold a car in 24 months - he needed relief from the Honda dealers ringing him daily and telling him their sales figures. It made him a very sad man

Even if you are a troll still worth others seeing, I used to be work in an audi Garage and know all about various cars and the manufacturers that are so much better than Subaru.
Lets take BMW the well Known German Manufacturer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEO2AaUo6d8
and
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...9948066992482#
US Euro and UK cars from 1.8s to 3L, BMWs fix was to spray expanding foam between the skins of metal so that you wouldnt hear the noise of the tearing metal and they denied all knowledge of it. Did it on the E30's and no change on the E46's

Audi A4's have 8 suspension arms all of which need changed at around 80k, £1K some of the TDI engines had plastic water pump impellars which were common for shearing off without you knowing until a temp light came on to say youve cooked your engine. Mk4 Golf Gti's were bad for exploding coil packs which was such a problem that VW had to recall them. All platforms that shared the 150hbp gti engine and the 180bhp 1.8T were bad for oil starvation from blocked pick up pipes or severe carbing which blocked the inlet completely.
06,07,08 Honda civics Cracked Blocks, Honda recalled (Quality)

We all know about Toyota's woes, although this was Americas answer to not being the biggest Manufacturer, dummy spitters! Toyota incidently own both Dahatsui and Fuji Heavy Engineering.
Renault Megane: In 2010 it was reported that the Megane II had the highest rate of MOT failures in the UK for cars first taking the test in 2007. The phase I version of Megane II was well known for reliability issues, especially with the engine management system.

Yadda yadda, recalls, poor design its everywhere and nobody is safe

I'm surprised this thread hasn't gone the muppet route, with the 'ruv you rong time' jibes.

Back to the original topic, 33k is overpriced, compared to what went before (25-27k?), which I'm sure is partly due to FX rate.

If the STI had been kept at the same price level, it would have been in the same ballpark as the Focus RS (the 300bhp one, not the black skinned S&M one), which is around 25k, and more the spiritual successor of the UK Turbo (minus 4wd, etc) - just look at the number in car parks.

The market has moved on and Subaru doesn't have this sales segment to itself anymore, the economy isn't in the same state either, fuelling any of the above is going to be expensive. So you take Your choice and pays Your money....

To be honest, I looked at the STi at £27,500 ... 12 months ago ... took it out for an extended test drive. It was way overpriced then!

To gain sales, to get any sale in fact, it needs to be £19,999 .... however, even then, people demand more than just speed these days - it's got to add up financially and in other ways, like comfort and build quality.

It could be that it won't sell ................ at ANY price?
