I guess I'm more laid back about the whole affair than you are then
It is OTT, purely on chance. You are 1 in 70million or whatever the worldwide Sony membership number is. You have more chance of being hit by a meteorite in the street than having your identity stolen

Taken from the BBC News Site :
Unusual transactions
Sony suggested that users should keep a close eye on their financial statements and alert their card issuer about any unusual transactions.
That advice was echoed by Visa Europe, the company behind the Visa payment system. It explained that if card data was found to have been stolen and used to make unauthorised payments, users would not have to pick up the bill.
"Cardholders who are innocent victims of fraud will get their money back, subject to the terms and conditions of their bank," it said in a statement.
PlayStation Network members were urged not to cancel their cards at this stage.
A spokesman for Barclaycard said that such action was unnecessary until it was known if card numbers had fallen into the wrong hands.
If that proved to be the case, Sony would need to hand over the information to the UK Payments Administration - the umbrella body that oversees financial transactions including bank transfers and card payments.
The card numbers would then be identified and passed to relevant banks who could block them from use or elevate the level of monitoring for unusual activity.

It appears Sony was hacked twice. Sony Online Entertainment was also hacked before the PSN and 26.4 million users details were stolen. Takes the total of users info stolen to over 100 million.

The hackers attacked psn again today
The other day we reported that hackers were developing a third attack against Sony, set to take place this weekend. Just like clockwork, the third attack was revealed today. Luckily for loyal Sony customers, the attack was not as bad as anticipated. The breach revealed 2,500 people's personal information, "including names and "some addresses" that were in a 2001 database". "No credit cards, social security numbers or passwords were revealed." However, Sony did state this will cause a delay to the process of bringing back the PlayStation Network.

Same here, It prompted me to change my password to which I never received any email. I tried to change it through the forgot password route and got an error 80023156. I switched my ps3 off and on again and now when I try to sign in it says psn is down for maintenance.
I cannot be bothered creating a new account and losing all my trophies, I think I will just use the big black box of **** as a £300 door stop and stick to my xbox from now on.
