I get around 1 in 5 turbo cars wave back at me but am yet to have a Hawkeye sport not wave. I dont know if its because of the animosity that there seems to be between those that have and dont have bonnet scoops but you begin to feel silly after a while with little response.

Sadly there are too many "non-enthusiasts" buying Scoobies so the numbers of wavers seem to have dropped over the last few years. As you say, people in suits. Not all Hatchers are businessmen - some owners are old retired codgers who, in my case, after 45 years driving high performance cars, still enjoy track days and appreciate any performance car
Don't take my first reply too seriously !!
If in Norfolk, most cars don't seem to have working indicators, or the webbed fingers make it difficult to operate the stalk, so take care !!

Damn you Non-enthhusiasts!
We have the same problem with the webbed figured imigrants coming over from the swamp (Isle of Sheppy) down here. And now they've built a new bridge so it's easier for them to escape the island!

I always try to wave though i'm often in my own little world and see someone in a scoob waving at me at the last second so they dont see me wave bk and then i feel like a ***t
I have noticed though that I used to get a lot more waves in my bugeye wrx and my blobeye than I do in my current Hawkeye for some reason

I have been driving for around 2 hours between Skipton and Leeds, seen 3 Scoobies, waved three times, none reciprocated. 1st one was a bloke who just stared, second was a family man with wife and children in the back who looked like he was occupied with them all and the third was a single woman who just looked like she hadn't got a clue that cars were on the other side of the road, let alone that one was waving at her while she was staring completely motionless straight ahead.

I saw a blue Blob wagon in sittingbourne last night, I was the first to wave, the woman driving gave me the 'Who the f8ck are you' look, luckily her husband was in the pasenger seat and he waved and smiled, hopefully he explain what it was all about, then she'll call him a sad loser. That's how it usually works isn't it?

I wave at classics (usually wave back) and sometimes at bugs, blobs and hawks (sometimes wave back).
I'll be f**ked if I am going to even acknowledge a hatch as a Scoob and anyway most hatch owners are so far up themselves they wouldn't acknowledge an 11 year old rusty shed anyway

When i bought my first scoob from a main dealer he told me about the 'wave' and i've done it ever since. Most of the time I get a wave or flash back and I quite like it. The exception is classic wagons, I don't wave to them! Nothing personal its just round my way they tend to be driven by old codgers or farmers and I just get a blank expression back.
Apparently my missus never gets a wave back when she drives my car (and she's fit!)

I always wave back if someone waves at me first, and generally I can tell who I think will wave back if I've seen them first and I wave at them too. If I think they arent likely too, then I won't bother to begin with.
I also find waves happen a lot more in the summer when A) everyone appears to be in a better mood and more receptive to it and B) they can actually see each other because it isn't pitch black!!!!
