what RC car have you got?
I've painted a clear body!!! not as easy as i though using the liquid Mask stuff.
pleased how its come out though

I charge my 5200mah lipo at 5amp and set the charger to cut out at 5200.
I keep mine fully charged, but don't let them run fully out, set the ESC to run them to 3.8v before they run out totally.

Bought a 2nd hand one of these recently

Completely unused just built then sold. Has CVDs and 3Racing shocks. Best bit it also has a 9.5T brushless system and spends most of it's time with it's nose in the air
Only got a short run as the driveshaft popped out and mashed the drive cup.
In other news, apparently Tamiya are re-releasing the Egress. Typical having just bought an original.
Theres also this re re

Not sure if I'll get one. Hopefully they bring out the Wild One too which will be a purchase for sure.

My new RC
HPI Vorza running on 6s lipos (22.2v), this thing is fast and have already shredded 2 sets of tyres lol, now with solid rubber tyres so hopefully they will last a bit longer
, with the gearing it has should be good for nearly 60mph

Projects for 2012
Tamiya TRF501x - Tamiya racing 1/10 4WD
Partially built but never used. Having the shell painted as a replica of the TRF colours. Not sure of its for the shelf only or for use.

Tamiya F201 Ferrari F1 4WD
Needs quite a bit of TLC. Has an aftermarket carbon chassis that has seen better days. Always wanted one of these due to the chassis. It's pushrod suspension is quite reminiscent of F1 suspension.

I'm looking in to a new rc car
I have had a few nitro cars but running them is a mission in its self
So I'm looking to go back to battery
I see the tech has come along and cars are now running brushless motors
Are any of these any good ?

You could have a look on the modelsport website. They've got a fairly comprehensive selection biased towards the recreation side of things to racing.
£150 will get you any one of the cheaper branded RTRs - Maverick, Ansmann, FTX. Never had them so can't comment but should be OK to get into RC - I hear the screws/nuts/bolts on Ansmann stuff can be a bit ropey.
Always worth checking parts are easy to get hold of for the lower brands - many RC shops will sell you the car yet not actually tell you its a PITA to get parts.
Electric is easier to deal with. Nitro is cool but can be a pain if not run properly and looked after (the fuel attracts water which can mess up the engine so after-run oil is a must) its not much fun getting all tweaked up for a blast and it won't start. Cheaper nitro is always going to be a PITA. Having said that an RTR Hyper 7 is about £250??
2nd hand can be a good idea but can also mean you end up with a box of junk.

Here's a couple of vids we made...

Brushless 1/8 AFAIK can be just as quick as Nitro. Personally I don't see the point of 1/8 brushless. The whole point of 1/8 is the noise IMO.
A 1/10 brushless will be plenty quick - like I said though, fairly pointless having a mega fast car if you can't corner with it.
Brushed Vs Brushless - Brushless are less hassle (no brushes to degrade) and can offer better performance (although I would say a low wind brushed motor will still be on par with a similar brushless)
How about a shortcourse RTR?
Cheap brushed RTR
http://www.modelsport.co.uk/ansmann-...products/36404
Or
More expensive brushless RTR
http://www.modelsport.co.uk/associat...products/36543
However, at the price of the RC10 short course truck you could have the RTR Hyper 7
http://www.modelsport.co.uk/hobao-hy...products/20870
Good 1/8 buggy - shouldn't give too much issue with the engine. Theres plenty online to help you. IMO if you're not sure about settings don't touch it - just make sure you carry out a proper running in and use after run oil to stop water ingress.
