I used to install vehicle asset management systems, (trackers) and I can tell you they are used to lose dead weight/slackers, if I fit one to your car / van I can tell you when you turn on the radio close any door or press the cig lighter as well as what speed your doing in any given gear and the throttle position.
so consider yourself well and truly warned they know EXACTLY what your doing every moment your in the van.
How long before the Authorities rumble that this could be another nice little money earner.

"Dear Mr Welshchap,

Contrary to S 11,234A of the RTA and by virtue of Regulation 26b (Provision for Monitoring of Vehicle Behaviours Act 2014) it has been detected that you:

Did 32mph in 3rd gear in vehicle Reg No. TUR 80 at GPS Ref 51.68618, -3.03223, at 03:52 on 10th July 2015, contrary to the speed limit of 30mph in that zone.

There is no escape. Your DNA was ascertained by the gear **** bio analyser and the findings verified by the steering wheel dactylogram.

Consequently £80 has been removed from your Bank Acc, ref 47986024.

PS - audiometric analysis detected the possibility of a malfunctioning exhaust, given the relatively high levels of noise.

Get it fixed son ".

The company know my 'driving style' by now, had trackered motors for years with no issues.
I was a tad tipsy last night and i'm surprised I managed to put a legible sentence together, I have since noticed that this is a 2yr old thread.

You did make me laugh with the 100bhp and she flies though.

It's amazing what you can get away with if you just "do your job" and do it well.

Not long mate, it's already being used in prosecutions involving RTA's, and to sack slackers/ pains in the ****, and it's 6 yrs since I did any installations, so things have probably moved on a little, to include things like pin hole cameras and voice recorders.

The DNA thing sounds funny "now" but i'm pretty sure the technology exists to do it, and they will probably analyse alcohol and illegal drugs then lock the doors and remotely drive your car straight to jail.

edit to add, I was also doing many, many covert installations, and it's something that a few of the very well known insurance companies are doing to "reduce premiums" for responsible drivers and to stop the young uns driving after 10pm until 4am as part of the conditions of insurance, I have no doubt that it's also being used to get out of paying for claims where the driving has been proved to be erratic, baring in mind they know where you are, what gear your in how many rpm's the road/weather conditions, it also won't be too long before they know what ALL the traffic in a given situation was doing at the same time, and have several camera angles to view from as well as voice recordings.
