In roughly the same boat, though I have lived in a fair few different countries.

Born in the UK, grew up in South Africa, college in Australia, travelled in Indonesia for 3 months before college, back to SA, spent 3 months in NZ considering moving out there, moved back to the UK and working in Switzerland trying to find a way to get missus out here or to France.

Now working as IT contractors we can afford to take big breaks and our first one is towards the end of this year - Nepal and everest base camp for 27 days.

Next year is Canada for a little bit more time.

The time I have spent travelling was the best time of my life and my only regret is that I have not done more...... But going to make up for that

Australasia would be fantastic as you get to see lots of different cultures, especially the east!!!

Now go book your tickets!!!!!!

I would be going asap!

My mum and dad spend all their lives bringing us up, and had only just started going abroad two years ago.
They always thought that once we were all grown up and fled the nest, they would start their travels.
Sadly it hasn't turned out how they wanted.

I spent 4 months travelling in cenral and south america and spent a month and half in Thailand and they were some of the best experiences in my life. I know its cliched but it totally changed my outlook on life and well worth it.
You certainly won't need lots of money in those places either. For south america i spent £1000 on flights and took £1500 with me. The best places to stay are the cheap ones anyway. Beach huts with a hammock £1 a night. lush!

In life, you only regret the things you haven't done, not the things you do!

Might be a bit embarrassed by the things you have done, but not regretful......

Do it
I have worked non stop for 27 years and apart from 2/3weeks away a year in Cebu where we have a home I've never had a gap year
When I got my redundancy i started a job 2 days later planning to quit it after 3 months and travel for a year I never did and regret it

5 years then I retire early and I'm counting the days
Then incan see the world and the boy can have what's left when I depart for the breakers yard in the sky
