They stuck on the rolling road and said "350bhp - is that what you were expecting??". I said "Erm no, it's only on a Hybrid TD04". They then said they'd got something wrong, did it again and came up with 301bhp!
Something in between would have been good!

Shaun your spot on................figures these days are way over the top. And one thing that eludes me is people who chase numbers. There is no point having 350 bhp if you don't know how to use it. And I don't mean in a straight line!!
I would strongly invest in some wet course days and trackdays before modding cars.

Had my car on the dyno just after Andy F did his stuff on it.

Something in between would be 325.5bhp exactly. I'm sure if you bought him a pint, he would have made it show 325.5bhp exactly.
I believe there should be some difference. Either spring rate or dampers. On a hatch STI, the JDM dampers have different part numbers from the UK dampers. I believe it should be the same case for the '06.

So-o-oo-o-o,
All you JDM owners - do you miss the burble? Tried listening to a JDM on youtube, but it's difficult to get a clear idea of what it's like. Is it like an Evo sound wise?
I know the spec C thing has been done to death in the past, but from what i can see the only difference is that it's lighter and has an IC spray??

Andy,
Who gives a **** about the burble!
There are a few more differences than just the weight with a Spec C. The IC spray is on all JDM's and not just the Spec C.

It's as per JDM car with additional AST single way adjustable suspension, Whiteline ARB's, Whiteline Anti-Lift Kit and Litchfields geometry settings. The Type20 chassis pack is detailed within the Litchfield On-Line store.
The Type20 specification should also be on their site.

What exact upgrades was on your Spec C when this run was done Ricky? Figures aside, the peak came very early. Much earlier that what -Nic- achieved in his hawkeye Spec C even though both of your bhp figures were similar. https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...he-spec-c.html
The only difference being I had a large Hyperflow TMIC & more importantly IMO is the Forge Actuator - Blue Spring. Also I suppose it depends how the mapper wants to map it. I personally prefer Nic's torque graph as it does'nt suddenly drop off & instead builds nicely along with bhp. Though mine did spool up really quick & gave you a shove in the back at approx 3,500 revs in 2nd & 3rd gear!

Does all this mean Spec C handling needs modifying?

Similar upgrades to Nic: K&N panel filter; 3 port boosr solenoid; H&S bellmouth 3" decat downpipe & centre section (resonated) & Miltek backbox.

Looking close at both charts, they seem to fall around the same rate if you ask me. But I would want still your torque curve TBH. I find that even with the twinscroll, i find the spool still alittle later than i'd like. "Shove in the back at approx 3,500 revs" sounds like fun if you ask me!

Where are you seeing 1bar on the road in 5th/6th?

I'll double check tonight Shaun, but im pretty sure its around 3500 - 3600rpm, might be less though.
Simon mapped my simtek closed loop (i think) so it has a different boost profiles per gear. Although its probably the same profile upto 4th then slightly less boost in 5th/6th, as i found it would overboost slightly on cold days in the top 2 gears, to say about 1.8bar.
So now hitting 1.65bar in those gears instead and running much better as there nothing worse then hitting boostcut!! lol its like hitting a brick wall.
Mind you it was still enough to give my friends 996TT with a 580bhp upgrade trouble to gain anything on me on the start/finish straight at snetterton

Mel,
Thanks for that and that is what I would of expected, spool wise, on that turbo and OE 2ltr. Since I didn't get up to Litcho this week to get the non Billet removed, I am starting to think again about moving to the LM450 Billet! roflol I really am terrible.
I'm just very unsure of whether or not the later spool (by circa 700rpm) is really going to **** me off, over and above what I have now. I suspect it will. It would change the driveability fundamentally. Mmmmmm.... decisions, decisions.

Lol see once the BHP bug bites you cant get away from it!! no matter how much your are trying to convince yourself.
To be honest Shaun, although i know that in standard turbo form with just a remap and a Miltek, the car was awesome with all its low down boost but it would just seem to run out of puff at about 6500rpm and would annoy me a little.
Not that the car wasn't fast, far from it, but the extra power gained without going too mad turbo wise has made the car great.
Yes there is a little extra lag but the once the power comes in...........oh boy!! and in reality you only really notice the lag when in higher gears at slow speeds, but then kick it down a couple of gear and you'll be saying.........lag........ what lag!!
If your down at Iains on the 2nd april Shaun, you welcome to take the car out for a drive, so you can see how it compares to your setup.
As i'll be there to get a full service and some extras done

Mel,
Yeah, but no but....
Needing to keep the engine "stirred" is not something that is uncommon.... especially coming from Cossies of old, but it does dramatically alter the driveability. However, the offer you have so kindly made should not be passed up! roflol It will make an interesting comparison and information for others on my Project Thread if nothing else.
You're a gent Sir.
