Was hard leaving them at the hospital tonight
But they're in good hands I guess. Isaac's umbilical cord was massive and a lot of blood drained from it after the cord was cut. The nurses are keeping an eye on it overnight as well as Nat, who has a lot of stitches down 'there'. Least I've got the bed to myself
One weird thing though - we bought a complete Tommie Tippie bottle set as well as the steriliser etc but he's rejected the bottles as the ***** are too thick. But swapped him onto an old fashioned cheapo latex one and he's lapping up the milk! Hopefully his gums will be able to grip the thicker Tommie ones as he gets older
Anyone elses baby been like that and preferred old fashioned bottle *****?

I think if he has had a traumatic birth, and depending on the type of pain relief (pethadine??etc) then a baby can be a little fussy at first no matter how they are fed.
However I have no experience with what might genuinely be his issue, as they are all different. Also mine didn't have a bottle for quite a few weeks after the birth so I am not sure how they would have reacted. But I do know they don't need to use their gums to grip! OUCH!!
When they did have a bottle I used Dr Browns (a special anti colic bottle and life saver!!!) and those things are HUGE!!
Is Nat not breastfeeding for one reason or another?

Two Tips Andy
Keep him on the tit as long as possible, at the very least for the first few days, so much goodness in the boobies, more than Aptimil will ever give him, he should at least try to boob for the Colostrum.
Keep to a routine, our last two have slept through the night from birth, I can only put it down to keeping the same routine with feeding etc.
Good Luck

Yep ***** all the way. The bottle isn't natural for him. Seriously, the breast is best is right and the wee one is much less likely to be ill when he's older. Sure you'd want to give the chap the best start in life you can?
Also good for mum. Can cut the chances of breast cancer later too!
get him on the nip at least for a few months.
congrats though. Glad everyone is fine.

Totally agree, the price of formula is mental.
Also with the breastfeeding, she is guarenteed a bigger set of boob for the duration of it. Also it helps to lose weight post birth

Nats not breast feeding. She's gotta stay in hospital for a bit as she's very weak. Got Anemia and taking all sorts of drugs. She's got high blood pressure too so been advised that her booby wouldn't feed baby Isaac enough due to his size.
Tried him on cheaper latex ***** and there's an improvement.
Sh1tty nappies and sick - no problem to me yet thank god as I've done most the work thus far lol.

I can imagine at his size he will be needing pie and mash before long!!
Just be safe knowing they are both well and he is being fed no matter which way it comes.
I wish Nat a swift recovery so that you can all be home together as soon as possible.

Hope Nat is soon well, give her my love.
Sick? that reminds me of when my youngest was about 2, he cried one night, so I got up to see to him, he was restless and very hot, so I picked him ip and he promptly sicked up in my face
It BURNS when it's in your eyes
You try holding a sick-coated baby with one of your hands, said bably is crying and squirming, while you try vainly to turn the tap on and rinse your eyes with the other.........without soaking said baby, of course
Ah....those were the days!
