Front fog lights

Pointless talking to you, especially when you now resort to insults and belittling. Simply compounds your arrogant standpoint I'm afraid. Goodnight.

I think you need to define sidelights: Driving on sidelights only at night is not legal.
The highway code clearly states says its ok to drive on dim-dip headlights....dim-dip lights are NOT side lights.
Most cars DO NOT have dim-dip lights, so must use dipped headlamps instead when in the city. NOT side lights.
Side lights are only meant to be used for parking in poor/hazardous conditions and nothing else.

That is my point Ali,
My ZX10 has a sidelight, I took them out (to turn them into indicators) as the sidelight always comes on with the headlight, you cannot have the sidelight by itself and you cannot turn off the headlight whilst the engine is running (by law on all modern bikes)
So if you have a head light cover to stay on the grey side of the law you have to disconnect the headlight bulb.

You should also
use dipped headlights, or dim-dip if fitted, at night in built-up areas and in dull daytime weather, to ensure that you can be seen
keep your headlights dipped when overtaking until you are level with the other vehicle and then change to main beam if necessary, unless this would dazzle oncoming road users
slow down, and if necessary stop, if you are dazzled by oncoming headlights
======edit=======
I forgot to say that Highway Code Lighting requirements (113-116)

You MUST
Ensure all sidelights and rear registration plate lights are lit between sunset and sunrise
Use headlights at night, except on a road which has lit street lighting. These roads are generally restricted to a speed limit of 30 mph (48 km/h) unless otherwise specified
Use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226)
Night (the hours of darkness) is defined as the period between half an hour after sunset and half an hour before sunrise).
[Laws RVLR regs 3, 24, & 25, (In Scotland - RTRA 1984 sect 82 (as amended by NRSWA, para 59 of sched 8))]

Yes I know what your saying about the fog lights law, but your not listening to what I am saying!!!!!!
If mine were glaring I would not use them.
It is like my work horse bike I own, I bought it with after market headlights that are not adjustable and glare badly (passes it's MOT every year no probs, god know hows LOL).
Out of courtesy I don't tail people and I don't stay behind people for more than 30 seconds as I know what it feels like to have light pollution, that and I bought the bike to get me from A to B as fast as possible.

If YOU are going to quote the HC, understand the interpretation of the words they use. 'SHOULD' is a guideline not supported by a legal requirement. 'MUST' is law, and thus will have a relevant reference to the applicable law within the Road Traffic Act.

OK look, (why does the highway code remind me of the GE/RT 8000 rule book LOL)
section 113 is what you must do and section 115 is what you should also do.
And as Corradoboy has stated Section 114 is what you must not do which I can see the point but I dis-agree with it (I am allowed to dis-agree with certain laws in this country & often do too :P)

Alright I am going bed now, so I call it an agree to dis-agree time.
There are loads of traffic police that have had ample chances to pull me up for a word if they required.
Actually let me tell you a quick riddle about Thurs PM, I did 90MPH past a police car on the M23 with a finger salute, why did'nt he pull me?

Nope, I had no fog lights and I was using my Day running lights.
Now there's a clue!!!!!
====edit=====
And it was a true calibrated 90Mph with no error reading so it would of been about 100MPH on a normal VDO

NEWS FLASHS.
I just remembered why I 1st started using my fogs.
When I bought my03 WRX (a few months back) it had a stone chip in one of the fogs, and condensated badly, so I use the heat from the fog light to dry it out therefore stopping the reflectors from corroding. I also found it helped me define rough parts of the road to avoid. I did worry that there might be a glare but after checking it, they were fine..................................I knew there was an initial reason LOL

Yes you do have an opinion but you still shouldn't have them on.
Oh and surely the above excuse is a wind up

No, the above is serious, maybe I should not have them on, but I do

Can't tell the difference between front fogs and those blue-ish high intensity things you see on Audis, Mercs, BM's and the rest. Both dazzle and are really annoying, particularly in the rear view mirror.
