Good god, you may want to dig a bit deeper than that. Upmystreet.com. WTF Go and have a look on the likes of aspc.co.uk to see what house prices in Aberdeen are doing. Normal 4 bed houses, £250-£400k and you can certainly not get a decent house in a nice area for under the UK average. (I wish you could as it would make the rental market very very prosperous up here)

It's not me that's taken the thread off on a tangent. I bowed out to stop this happening and was then attacked by yourself and a few others.

Oi - you two!
This is not the "How Much Will House Prices Fall' thread.

It's about a ghey Jockish car and a lairy hairy chested, medallion Man from Atlantis car.

Keep on topic....

Trout, I'll bow out a 2nd time fella. Once again, apologies for taking your thread off on another tangent.

Olly, oil is rocketing again, if you're in engineering, Aberdeen's the place to be (Locals are a little strange tho). Banny, the GT3 is not turbo pdk quick, sort of gives me an idea but in all fairness I've never seen a 997 GT3RS on the road to test my car against, i'm just going off figures (Talking straight lines, not the windy stuff, my little golf would be left embarrassed.)

Enjoy your car Trout

Mitch/Leo

For someone not interested in the argument they are very keen to point out my car has 'only' 444bhp (although on the Porsche website it states 450bhp ).

I do agree it is pretty slow in a straight line at only 8.1s from 0 to 99mph - at least it goes around corners quite well. That is a relief.

I do my car a disservice - someone has beaten the Porsche time and done 0-100mph in 7.9s, so by the time the TT-RS reached 100mph I would be at least 70 yards ahead. Although I do seem to remember Mitchy was going to chip his so it may be closer

This thread is on a death spiral and its dragging a lot of "reputable" posters down with it! Yes Trout has a lairy essex'd up GT3RS and the lad from Aberdeen whatever his name is has a dolled up Golf.... i'd beat the pair of you in a striaght line and on the twisties so you both bought the wrong cars everyone should drive a datsun

I looked at the Datsun but even though I have a big driveway I didn't have enough space to fit it in

http://www.fastestlaps.com/cars/audi_tt-rs_coupe.html

0-62 in 3.9 (60 in 3.7) 100 in 9.3s and onto 179mph 335bhp only. Now take it upto 450hp to match your output with an exhaust and map and tell me you would be 70yds down the road

Still though, I hadn't appreciated the 7.9s, I must have been reading the specs for the 415bhp version at 9secs. Perhaps not as 'slow' as I thought but still you wouldn't be shaking off this fast golf with those figures Then again, you can mod yours too and we'd be back at square 1 so perhaps not fair.

Like I said Trout, enjoy your car, just dont be annoyed when there are hairdressers all over your rear end. At least you'll know what to expect You should have got the Turbo S, different league, not even the Datsuns can keep up. This is just a turbo pdk vs GTR so 500 vs 500 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkDdv...eature=related

You can make a two bob 15 year Impreza/Evo accelerate quicker than a GT3 RS - but do any of us want one? No.

Those that just look at acceleration figures are just keyboard warriors without a clue. You can make a 15 year old Evo/Scooby/Skyline/insert any old turbo'd car out accelerate a GT3 RS - but which would any of you choose?

Oh and the TT RS may be quick but it's a 3 star car...

Initially yes, but evo kept it as a long termer and reviewed it higher in a later report and then it's relative, it's only someones opinion.

See here for uprated review in particular 44secs onwards..http://www.evo.co.uk/videos/planetev...udi_tt_rs.html

Some pics of mine just incase you're ever up this way Trout ;-) I like it, certainly not a Porka but never the less for a tarted up golf think it looks quite good..

I'm not. I appreciate the GT3RS is an awesome car, it's rated very highly whatever report you read. I'd be silly to state anything otherwise.

My gripe with it was, I just disagreed with it visually, for the road that's it. Perhaps I was too blunt in the way I expressed that with the stereotyping but that's just me, a little too forwards sometimes. I will admit 7.9s to the ton is quicker than what I thought it was and is quick by anyones standards. (I read the 9s report of the 415bhp model before, still quick but leagues away from the Turbo S at 6.5)

Thanks Mattee.

The 415bhp model is the 997.1 which wasn't a great car to be honest.

The 997.2 has a short ratio box that helps acceleration. If you could have PDK and keep the same weight it might even be in the 6's. The advantage is light weight compared to the porky Turbos.

The Turbo S is bananas - although the same spec is at least £20k more - for a car that is ultimately less involving, if a little more discreet!

Short ratio box and dispensing with the dual mass flywheel, losing eight kilos and increasing response.

So does this qualify as more discreet? When I ordered my car I got someone to look at doing this - from Porsche as an option it cost between £4-6k!!!

From a specialist I reckon £1k.

Oh yes, much more discreet... no one would notice that little spoiler, would they?

Mind you, it's a much nicer spoiler than the TTRS......

Heresy I know, but for what it’s worth, I think it would look much prettier with just a duck spoiler – a la the original 1972 RSR
