I snuck out from work today...
...to pick up my car five days early!
Done my first 75 miles.
What an AWESOME car!!!
The ride is closer to a Jaguar Sport rather than raw GT3, until you press the SPORT button. Great for general driving until you want to make it as hard as nails.
The engine is sublime - tractable and easy going. Press the pedal and at 4k rpm it feels like you have been hit in the back by a lorry load of lions. The noise is something else, the surge in power is amazing. Keeping the revs down a little until I get another couple of hundred miles on the clock.

So far I would say there were more differences than similarities.
Not as edgy from a chassis perspective - the new one is very well damped and controlled. Much more compliant on general driving (but there is a Sport button).
Throttle and engine much more urgent - even though it is still tight. Indeed Autocar said it took time to adjust to how responsive it was.
Engine noise - WOW
Mechanical noise - sounds like a race car - at idle it chunters away, flywheel making a hell of a noise - clunky gear engagement - but smooth as silk once moving.
Obviously much less soundproofing but not noisier overall - just different.
Sounds mental on the Sport setting - even at 2,500 rpm.
Massive grip and stability in corners.
Much better quality (if still simple) interior.
And in all this it even had grown up car stuff - uprated hifi with full iPod integration (sounds and works well), sat nav and aircon.
Super.
Just been to fill it with V Power and when I was there I got invited to be in a music video (well the car anyway!)
