Thanks for everyone's very kind comments. Twelve years ago I scraped together the money to get my first Subaru which, in it's own way was as exciting as getting this. I have had an incredible decade in between but at the core I am still the same excited petrol head just as I was when I joined this site in 1999.

The best thing is that the response to the car has been unanimously positive from waves from other drivers to comments at petrol stations and elsewhere. It really is a privilege to be able to own something like this.

And I will happily do passenger laps when I am on track days - if you see me just ask
Lovely, lovely car David and a credit for being successful enough to own such a beast. It's also refreshing to see successful and well paid folk on here be humble about their achievements. I bet there was a fair element of hard work to get where you and your wife are today, not just luck

Enjoy the car and the attention, why not

Let’s keep Trout’s physique out of it, it gets harder to keep in shape as you get older

Sorry, but its screaming mid life crisis, **** extension, hey everybody look at me

444bhp aswell isn't earth shattering in 2011. A much better and much more sophisticated choice without shouting out at everyone would be the Turbo or Turbo S surely?

Did I say it wasn't my cup of tea

Top marks Trouty, enjoy!

I'd love to experience how one of these things feel, I've never driven a GT3 or GT3 RS and have always wondered what I'm missing. Perhaps one of the worlds best driving experiences this side of a race car?

+1 mate, there is no doubting that this car is a nice piece of kit and easy on the eye,but i still stick by it looks brown in the direct bright sunlight which i don't think would be my choice but as its not myn it is irrelevant.

It is funny how people get jealous, I for one am glad to have the input and views on a car like that, dont get wound up, mad or jealous, just get even and get into a position to buy your own, Turbo or whatever, suspect those that pull a face would sell their souls for a 12 grand 996 Carrera 2 in gold with a lime green interior, I probably would one day I will get mine, perhaps Flat blue with baby poo beige leather, but it will be mine.

Thats said, I think I would go for a Turbo, not because I don't like the GT3RS, but because I am a big girls blouse and would probably crash a GT3RS and I like my comforts and not having to explain the climbing frame, but I reckon stuff like the GT3RS are for people that have been through other 911's and are looking for more focus, feedback or whatever, perhaps diving in with something like that might be like goign for a Vindaloo first time you go to the curry house, however nice it may be it may be just a little to spicy for you, am I making sense ? thinking that somethign like that might be overpowering for those used to normal cars.

I love the fact its a bit lairy looking.

Thank you for all the brilliant comments guys. I do intend to drive it most days and am really looking forward to getting it freed up on the tarmac at the Grudgement Days, SSO and TOTB as an honorary member of the Scooby Team (well it is a boxer engine )

I do hope that most would like to enjoy the car - and I will happily come along to events if people want to see it. As I said it is a privilege to own it and if that can be shared then all to the good

As for the looks - well they are a bit marmite - but the best thing is that from inside I can't see the outside

And being inside it, driving, is what counts

I am sure his profile had a TT-RS avatar on it this morning - until I mentioned TT-RS in my post.

And it is an amazing coincidence that someone who has just bought a TT-RS, who is in Aberdeen, stopped posting the very same day LEO-RS started posting.

LEO-RS has already mentioned that he is in Aberdeen.

It must be on that other thread where I just happen to put up a post about a TT-RS that might have provoked a long term need for retribution...
