Pics of the new car

I've been there tbh and i doubt very much the dealer will give you any discount.
A new car ALWAYS needs some amount of correction by the dealer. They will probably never really do as good a job as a split new car deserves, but they pay the wages of the valeters in there workshop, so they'll look at it as though they don't need to pay "extra" for someone else to do it.
Our new Mini Cooper S had a polisher on it and took the coating down to the primer and also faithers RS had fallout all over it. BMW technician checked it out(part of the same group) and he commented on it being "the norm".
The dealer offers you what they see fit. If you don't want it, you can either take it as is, or point blank refuse the car.
Oyster leather would be soooo much nicer.

Yes I think this is the line they are going to take with me ie that they would have corrected the paintwork but I chose to pay someone to do it. I suppose they would have corrected it, just not as well as the detailer did.
Don't forget I had already arranged for the detailer to come down, not that I asked him to come as a result of the defects.
What I can say is that I felt a little disappointed by the level of defects and that I had to pay the detailer a little extra because things were worse then usual. And mention the tiny residual scratch. Then I'll go quiet and see what they offer.
The other thing is unless they offer something quite easily is it really worth me having an argument and spoil the day when I'm about to pick up my new car for the sake of £100ish?
I think they'll have to offer something without too much fuss or I'll just have to swallow it.

That's the problem, I don't ruffle feathers in my line of work so it doesn't come naturally to me when it comes to money. You are right though I should man up a bit

I followed a 370z the other day in Cambridge and personally I thought it looked pug fecking ugly, but I wouldn't have put that on a thread had you posted one announcing you just bought one, what would be the point except to try and **** somebody off.

The colour is very nice Ding, looks quite similar to the new STi launch car colour under them lights.
I don't mean this to sound like a criticism but the new 5 doesn't look as ground breaking and special as the e60, it looks lovely just a bit too subtle.

Go read that thread again, and you'll see i didn't throw my toys out of the pram. You just started banging on about 370Z's are Gay cars. But then what also happened, is that you followed me around on a few threads crying `Gay`at everything I posted.

Don't flatter yourself, it was a minor comment on two threads but that was more than enough. You seem quite handy dishing it out but not so good at taking it.

Anything said by me, or said to me on here, is seen one way by me. Banter.
I'll never get upset or annoyed by anything or anyone on here. I can take it as well as giving it.
Now go and stalk someone else, freak !!

Deep,
What you should have done when the detailer pointed out the damage was to tell the dealer that you were rejecting the car unless they agreed to pay for the correction work by a detailer of your choice.
TBH, I'm shocked that they let your detailer near it before you paid for it.
As it stands your grounds for rejection are somewhat dimished now and youve paid the £300.
Worth a try though

Suprised yr car need that much attention to put right Ding (yr stealer must be cr*p at their job).....when I pick mine up it was prestine inside and out ,when i done the deal on my car I had the salesman "throw in" the trackstar as part of the deal along with the superguard .
then when he rang me up a week later to "see" if I was happy with the car , i started moaning about how inferior its was compared to my previouse car and got the salesman to speak to his sale manager and he offered to pay for my trackstar subscription..........result!!!.
So i would say its pays to moan a little ....but its all depends on how "friendly" you are with yr salesman

The bit about BMW drivers being boring, was a bit tongue in cheek, and most saw it like that. Others just saw it as an excuse to have a go.
I know BMW drivers aren't boring. Far from it. Too busy being Pr!cks to be boring.

You cant expect everyone to pass off your comments mate?
I bet you don't see yourself as a troll either do you?
I'd love to see one of these threads not go totally off topic as usual, as i really enjoy them and it can't fall into the "if you don't like what you read, don't read the thread" bracket.

Lovely looking car. I think the guy who mentioned that you should of refused it unless BMW paid to fix it via a third party person, is correct.
You're in a difficult position now, as you cant really refuse the car, as you've had someone work on it. Also, what's to say the 3rd party guy didnt make those scratches himself ?? I know he didnt, but its the position that BMW could now take.
If you're paying £50K for this, then at the end of the day, whats £300 / £150 goodwill from BMW ?? I would judge the situation, and if I felt I could, I would try and see if I get some sort of good will from BMW. As much as £150 isnt much, would they want to loose a sale for £150 ?
As for the BMW spraygaurd stuff, dont bother. I have a good friend who works for BMW and spends all day preparing new / used cars. That spraygaurd stuff is just that, you spray it on with water, wipe off and thats it. Its crap and costs about £25. Ive had many packs from him, and applied it to my cars and it never lasts. Infact, on a polished car, it actually dulls it. Also, if not prepared properly, locks in dirt and smears.
Whatever the situation, or outcome, dont let it ruin what is a lovely car and that wonderful feeling of picking up a new car, 0 miles, new car smell ! :-)

Well picked up the car today, god it's big! Definitely feels bigger and heavier than my E60, it will take a bit of getting used to.
Engine feels really punchy except for some reason it doesn't feel quite as smooth as the 530d I had as a weekend demo. Is this my imagination or could it be because the engine is still a little 'tight'
Some of the new toys are nice, the voice control works much better than the one in my M5. Making a call via the voice control worked perfectly, it recognised all my commands and gave me really sensible prompts.
The surround view gives a complete birds eye picture of the car, really quite useful.
Oh and thanks on the advice given re; compensation. They couldn't have been more helpful and basically asked me what it would take for me to walk away happy. I think one should be reasonable when others are being so and asked for £200. He agreed and that was that.
My outlook is that the £300 I was going to spend on the detail anyway, the £200 they have given will buy me another mini detail in 6 months time or pay to have the car professionally cleaned every month for the next 4 months.

Stilover - christ almighty, are you on anti depressants or something?!
A quick plus for Supagard - mine was prepared by Sytner (it was 2 years old when I bought it) and is a very "awkward" sapphire metallic black. Arrived absolutely gleaming and has been very easy to keep super clean ever since. Interior (terra dakota leather) also bearing up well and I got a Supagard "professional" pack worth about £150 thrown in too. Wheel cleaner, wheel protector, scuff remover, leather wipes, tyre dressing. shampoo sachets, etc, etc all in a nice leather case. Not bad at all.

You know the pics of your M5 you posted, when were they taken. Was it when you first got the car, just before you chopped it or other? The reason I ask is because you implied you hadn't really looked after it, but to me it looked like new still.
Anyway, get a decent camera and get some proper pics up.

MMT, if only mate. Those photos of the M5 were when I first bought the car!
These are pics of the car just before I collected it today, luckily I didn't drive through the glass!
The car has something new called ambient lighting. I'll take some pics of that and the surround view later tonight.
Took the car for a hard blast and then some town driving and it still gave me 30mpg! I know thats less than advertised but my M5 used to give me 10mpg after a drive like that. And I think I've read the mpg on a diesel gets a bit better once its got some miles on it.
