Finally - Cameron attacks 'state multiculturalism'

I love it, TDW taking Islam's stance on Homesexuality to task, I would have thought your views were similar to Hardline Islam based on what you have said on threads about Gays ?

I still think he is playing to the gallery, bit like PSL does on here.

But, the lad appears to want to reform his character, who am I to stop that?

What are you wittering on about Mark?
Your own posting history has not exactly been illustrious has it? Get over yourself mate.
I will post what I like, free speech and all that, remember?
What have those facts got to do with us? What possible impact do they have on us, living here? Please enlighten me.
People are running around and screaming hysterically, "We're all going to die! The Saudis are coming!" Are you subscribing to the hysteria that DC has created and others here are lapping up without question?
We will see come the next election how successful they have been with the real issues, they will be judged on that. If he cuts welfare spending, ergo the deficit, then he would have largely succeeded and even I will admit that.
If he doesn't we will be royally screwed and I won't be here!

LOL Mark, thank you. Most kind. I have lot's of people around me here that I do my best to emulate.
I do think that your criticism is a little unwarranted, as I am very good at answering peoples' questions compared to how much sidestepping people do to me. Ho hum.
Now, please remind me. What is it that I HAVE to answer for you?
If you ask nicely, you at least deserve an answer.

Haha, seriously then, our little discussion began when I contradicted your claim that although very strict religious-based laws exist in places like Saudi, they're almost never acted on (even in places like Saudi). I would like to know whether, in the light of plentiful evidence on the subject proving that they're acted on rather frequently, you're still of the same opinion.

I want nothing more than to know the secret of your astonishing gymnastic prowess.

On your point, I don't deny that it goes on at all, a friend has literally just posted a piece on FB about a 14 year old girl in Bangladesh being murdered for a crime as decreed by an Islamic court in Bangladesh. Interesting though that the govt. there has banned such courts. It is truly revolting and the perpetrators will be charged with murder.
I have just questioned the widespread use of such things, as some people, you included I think, seem to think goes on all day, every day.
Perhaps it is just that your 'frequently' is my 'infrequently'?
I had a quick look at the figures, and it did look infrequent to me.
Now what possible correlation would you like to make please? Also, as I stated in a previous post to you, what impact does that have on us here, you and me, sitting at our PC's? I say none.

I don't remember ever asking for a correlation, but if you want to know why I think it's relevant to point out what goes on in places like that, the answer's pretty simple. Firstly, it demonstrates in very vivid terms why we shouldn't become complacent about religious zealots getting a foothold in deciding how our judicial system works. Secondly, that it happens to be overwhelmingly Islamic countries that seem to have that propensity at this point in time might eventually be proven by history to be of very little significance, but in the here in now it's a fact that's rather difficult to overlook.

I was looking a lot further ahead.
I have not had a favourite prime minister for a very long time.

Cameron is just saying all this to snuggle up with his buddies in Germany. He's only repeating what Angela Merkel said.
Multiculturalism was doomed from the start... it doesn't even exist. What is 'multiculturalism'? Different countries can get on with each other in the world, that's fine, but within a country is a system of laws and ways of doing things; you can't have more than one of those in the same country, it would just be anarchy. Nor do we want any of the rest - particularly from the east! Fashion is fine - the element of culture you can appreciate and enjoy together in any country - but laws and processes are different, they can't be mixed, and I'm pretty sure they come under what could be referred to as 'culture'.
I see everyone (human beings) as equal, but I definitely don't want any system to creep in that is less liberal than what we have now. And that is not American liberal I'm talking about!

I am sorry Les, I should have put a by the favourite PM comment, given your well publicised feelings on Tony Blair.
Who knows what will happen in future mate. Personally, if the UK was going to become an Islamic state, or anything close to that, it would have done long ago.
I don't see it happening in future.
Cheers

I would really like to know which figures it is you're talking about here, but in any case even a few dozen people flogged and imprisoned a year (a very conservative estimate for the amount of people actually prosecuted for religious 'offenses' and on the receiving end of such punishments in Saudi and other hard-line Islamic states around the world) would be a very much bigger scale than your original "handful in all of recorded history".
Saudi is still such a new country, IMO it is not even a proper country and was not created how 'normal' countries are created.
Their Laws, Judiciary, institutions are not 'real' in my eyes, just sort of made up and artificial. That is one reason they do strange things.
Using them as the standard is somehow skewing things IMO. But we don't complain because they love to buy our guns and tanks, and gratefully receive the prostitutes we buy for them as a thank you!

I just don't think it is as big a deal as some would have you believe.
Now, I hope I do not appear to be side stepping, but I honestly think that. If the UK becomes an Islamic state in our lifetime, not only will I leave here first, I promise to pay for you to leave too, go and live anywhere you want, on me.
Does this answer your question please?
Thanks.

I am hovering between Euro Scepticism and outright dislike.
I hate the CAP, the beaurocracy, the EU Commission, the unaccountability, the CAP, the reduction in sovereignty, the lack of a Referendum, French farmers, the CAP, the waste of money, did I mention the CAP?
However, if we had been more 'in' Europe, say in 2003, would we have been 'allowed' to go to war in Iraq? I think the French and Germans would have stopped us. Even at the time I was one of seemingly only a few people to say it was wrong. It might have proved to have been a blessing in disguise if they had?

Sorry Mark, as I said, only had a quick look, but by the sound of it, I think I got the jist.

LOL! You are far too sophisticated for me! I am aiming to make the perfect BM. I keep failing, but it is damn good fun.
TBH I drink anything! Including a nice Rioja. Just took delivery of a case of Vintage Moet, but I just use that as gift material.
Prefer a Dom P or a Cuvee Louise for proper celebrating.
But, as I said, I am NOT sophisticated. Just found a Jacobs Creek Fizzy Red, which goes down like Coke! LOL!
I do have quite a few single malts and various blends in my possession. I don't hurry those.
Hmm, this thread has just improved somewhat!

This is a dreadful polemic playing the race card. I think it is indicative of the irreconcilable POV's in this country.
