My experience with four BMWs prepped by a dealer (three dark metallic colours) is that all the dark colours came very swirly.
Propper detailing is fantastic. My man works all over the UK and he can do the business.
He does lots of high end kit - he has done the UKs first GT2 RS and will be doing the UKs first 599 GTO

When ever I read about detailing, I am reminded of this littel gem from Sniffpetrol

CAR GEEK ‘DETAILS’ DIRTY DISHES
Posted in News by Sniff on Monday, August 13th, 2007
There was anger this week in one of those bland new-build houses with a criss-crossy brick driveway that all people who post photos of their cars on the internet seem to live in as a tedious car geek annoyingly overused the word ‘detail’.
Spip Misby, a 27-year-old IT consultant who lives with his mum and dad, has long been obsessed with ‘detailing’ his Audi A3 but sources close to the Misby household say his irritating habit of using a strangely meaningless word to describe what is essentially the act of washing and then polishing something has now reached unacceptable heights.
‘Frankly it was bad enough when he just crapped on about “detailing” his bloody car again,’ said his father, Jennifer. ‘But when he announced that he was going to reward his mother’s dinner-making efforts by “detailing” the dirty dishes that was the final straw’.
Spip’s sister, David, was quick to add to her father’s ire. ‘My brother seems to mistakenly believe that the word “detailing” is a synonym for “really cleaning something” . Except I’ve checked in the dictionary and as far as I can work out, “detailing” actually refers to small decorative features on a building, work of art or other object and in no way means spending all pissing weekend rubbing a sponge and some cloths over your stupid twatting car’.
Spies in the Misby camp say that following the “detailing” of dirty pans and crockery, Spip retired to the bathroom to spend a typically suspicious amount of time in the shower, probably ‘detailing’ his ****.

Thanks. My dealer doesn't have the best reputation in terms of after sales service and so I don't trust them to apply the Supagard even if its for free. The salesman was my kind of guy though, well informed, happy to lend me cars over the weekend for demo etc and no pressure tactics. Thats the only reason that dealership got my sale.
So should I tell the dealer not to prep the car at all (I have no idea how they prep it) or just make sure they don't Supagard it for free as some kind of good will gesture?
Trout, your man wouldn't travel all the way down to London would he? Can't see how that would be worth his while.

Ding - there'll be plenty of very good detailers in London.
And yes, it IS funny when washing gets called "detailing."
I had fun "detailing" my hands and teeth earlier.
Now off to detail the breakfast dishes...

My NSX had Supaguard applied to it; Problem is it wasn't new, and whoever did it didn't bother to remove the polishing/wear and tear marks (gritty sponges etc) before applying it.
So all it served to do was seal in the polishing marks, so was an utter waste of time and just created more effort required to sort out the said paint defects. I had to mop the entire car (removing said supaguard) with cutting compound so that I had a glass smooth mirror finish....THEN I applied the waxes and sealants. Took two days to do fully.
I'm not criticising the product; but moreso those that apply it for not doing the needed prep work. If its a brand new car; I'd expect them to remove the factory orange peal finish.

Mattee I have a Nilfisk 130 model I think. I bought a snowfoam kit for around Ł70. Have you got any tips because when I use it the foam comes out way too watery where others seems to come out much thicker.
I currently attach the hose pipe to the pw. Then attach the plastic bottle to the end which I've filled up with water and 3 pumps of the recommened wash stuff. Turn the nozzle on the plasic bottle to the + side. Then attach the hose to the pressure washer. Am I doing something wrong?

Salesman needs them to achieve target in the dealers. Its the way there pay structure is set up. Its ok, i've had it on a couple of cars & can defo notice the difference. More so in my tourer when they apply the interior bit as its easier to get the dog hairs out. Also brings the shine up quicker when washing as i cant be arsed polishing.

Jim - sorry for the slow reply. Wife just had our second child. A little girl!
Sounds odd. Mine works a treat with an E140. Have you tried adjusting the settings on the top of the lance? Use about an inch of fluid and top it up with warm water. Should work okay. If not, check detailingworld.com - loads of car washing geeks who will be able to help.
GC - I'm a fellow fake M badge disliker and think M Sport stuff is basically try hard badging. But not many share my opinion! That 135i is great apart from the reg plate...

I've spoke to a friend who has the same problem and he thinks it may be poor water pressure as he didn't use to have the problem till he moved house.
