In that case I think that this week should be national "Im calling in sick and staying at home and not using my car therefore dont need to fill up" for 7 days week.

The problem is this money has got to come from somewhere, fact. We have no choice if we want to live in this country but what makes it so bleedin painful is knowing that the 2 grizzly Brown Blairs are not facing civil prosecution for gross incompetence and putting us where we are now. They failed in spectacular fashion to rule this country with any ability and yet Brown kept hold of his position when he changed his mind about having a general election. He put his own selfishness before the countries needs and that should be considered treason. One that is still punishable by death I believe. Hmm maybe filling up wouldn't be so painful then.

By the way I dont actually support the death penalty but I do think he should be made accountable.

Spain is fantastic for fuel, you just didnt care filling up. When I was there the exchange rate made it the equivalent of 50p / liter. I think it has gone up a bit more now but still no where near as bad. France is pretty high though.

A lot of Europen countries have diesel cheaper than petrol. Once upon a time it was the same here...but that was when there were few diesel cars about!

Wonder why that could be?

What are you all so worried about? Cameron said he would look at fuel prices and what he could do to help as part of the run up to the election. He won't let us down

Fuel is expensive, and it will only get more and more expensive. I don't understand people expecting a drop. They have to pump super heated steam into wells now, to push out the oil in the rock, its truly insane the lengths we go to for oil.
Especially as people think hydrogen is to expensive to use as a real alternative, people need to wake up and realise its the only alternative.
Electricity in cars is a fad, its expensive, inefficient and potentialaly wasteful, with more plastic and chemicals going in to large batteries, than have ever come out of the internal combustion engine.
It was mad panic yesterday at shell, I filled up with V at 130, gonna have to sell a kidney to pay for the next tank of fuel....

I was thinking of selling my Elise in the summer and getting a type uk sti. I'll not be doing this if fuel gets much dearer. The Elise gets 49 mpg on a run on NUL, and 99% of my driving is motorway commute.

Just filled up 133.9 VPower - about average from the sounds of things and only a 2p increase from before Christmas. The real problem here isn't the tax (for once) its the oil/energy companies constantly ramping up prices. Petrol has been going up for months and most are posting record profits in a recession. Of course this hits everything else we buy as well. Hows that in the 'national interest'?
