im 24, had my scoob since i was 21! was my dream car, the 1st time i ever watched colin hammering the 555 scoob in the rac rally, i knew i had to have one. iv,e only been able to afford one since they;ve come down in price. i wear baseball caps, hoodies,trainers the lot, but i am not a "chav". im an enthusiast who loves subarus, every single one of them. i live,breath,dream subarus, i still jump to the window when i hear one go buy, still makes my hairs stand on end when i watch the old mcrae videos lol. the fact that some people on here are willing to sell their cars because of what other people might think is pathetic and in my opinion it wasnt really your dream car!! i'd never sell it, i get young lads in saxo vts's, 106's, corsas, every type of car u could think of driving up my ****. happened last night, went to the cinema with my lovely lady, watched love and other drugs lol, on the way back we went mc'd's, was a load of young lads in saxos etc... he followed me all the way out of town revving the sh*t out of his car, just made me laugh to myself, didnt react to it. just kept my eye on wat he was doing.

the thing is, you know the biggest idiots of them all that i personally think are the problem.... reps!!!! bmw's, audi's,vw's. anyone with a company car it seams somtimes, cuz its not their car they dont give a dam about it , see a car like mine and they feel like they have to overtake to prove some kind of point. just let em get on with it!

also.. ive got mates with evos and they have the same problem, its not down to the car, its down to the mentality of the people that drive them!! usually find that the older people like to lable youngsters like myself as chavs, think what u like lol. i love my scoob and i wont be selling it anytime soon regardless what people think!!

I tend to find that other drivers will use a scooby or evo as some kind of benchmark as everyone knows these are quick motors.

As far as selling my scooby because its chavy made me giggle. I drive cars and bikes for the adrenalin rush mayby a small amount of posing but most of all because it makes me happy .

some of us couldnt insure a scoob at a young age (i was 25) so had 2 make do with a boy racer cars,ive blown away some boy racers and ive also not paid them any attention wen thay come up flashing there lights but sometimes thay (like myself) just like a car and would love 2 talk 2 the owner about it so are we 2 blame in this aswell for thinking thay just wanna race? u should enjoy ur car and not worry about who thinks wot

Had myself a wee experiment today...

Well I went up the main street in beith today at the recommended 5 MPH.

Wont be doin that again.......

I then accelerated from stationary to 20 mph not exceeding 3000 rpm and suprise suprise i got a couple of death stares from some middle aged men and pulled in to the bus stop by the local constabulary AKA the filth, scum , pigs, pr1ks, w4nk3rs ect

was told to cool it down a bit that I was in a 30. I replied " i was doin 20 " The wasters then proceeded to hold me for approx 20 min while they done background checks ( waste mine and their time ) The diddy then told me to play the game.

I dont consider myself a chav. I was wearing a pair of black levis, black shoes and a suit jacket .

So there are my findings

Well I think this has been a good topic and some valid reason as to y we should keep our beloved subarus,

I have made my bed and cant take it anymore so I will b moving to a evo, and if that does'nt workout then I will just have to see,

Dont get me wrong I luv Subarus and always will, and who knows I may come bak. For the time being I am going to enjoy my last months of Subaru ownership.

I must add I have changed my STI to a WRX wagon and not had any problems with racers and so on!!!!

You hear a loud car coming up yhe road from "a mile away" and your gonna think wtf is that? And look for the offending weapon!

Your not gonna think, oh i think ill run out in front of that!

That illustrates a good point. I have a legacy twin turbo with a H&S exhaust - from inside it doesn't sound loud but having heard mechanics drive it in and out of the garage I'm aware it's louder from outside. Before I had a Saab 900 turbo with a 3" catless straight-through exhaust which was very loud.

In both cars I would/do drive through town at or below the speed limit, but as soon as I accelerate it sounds loud and people assume I'm speeding and give me evils and hand gestures to slow down.

On the whole 'chav' image I totally get where people are coming from. I've got 2 young children and the looks I get when I'm parking or at the school makes me really uncomfortable but also angry too. Why judge people ontheir cars? Just cos I drive a stickered scooby, it dosnt mean that I'm a thug and drive round like a loony! I love scoobs and always will and will get my ra back one day for now I'll stick to ( in my. Opinion and to be honest sod everyone elses) wagon . Practical for the family, makes the noise although does not make my butt cling to the seat in fear like the ra did haha and is still a scoob x

i was worried about the image, but i thought **** it and got one anyhow
had mine 2 weeks so far, and no issues with chavs/boy racers
well not so far

worse ive ever had was with a Van of all things! whilst driving my CTR to cornwall
he refused to let me past on a quiet dual carriageway
when i went to overtake he'd weave in front of me cutting me off
complete nutter tryin too cause a bloody crash :/

i agree with the noise thing too, mine only had an induction kit (CTR) and it was quite noisy in vtec
my brother was driving off a roundabout onto a 40mph stretch
he booted it, but only from 1st rolling and didnt even get past 30 before going into 2nd and coasting
some community police were sat on a roundabout further down the dual road
could see them busily scribling down my reg plate......
no speed testing devices or anything, just went by the noise i guess

We all buy a powerful car ultimately because it has a higher top speed than a normal car or accelerates faster than a normal car. I do not condone driving like an idiot in town centres or residential areas, there are enough quiet country roads for a bit of spirited driving or a dual carriageway for a fast squirt.

I have a whole other problem with regards to who will try and take on the Scoob. Usually more expensive performance vehicles, rather than boy racers. I just get a nod from the boy racers and it has been the same with my other WRX. I think they know that they were both highly modified and that I do not take the bait.

However I have had everything from a 911 Turbo, F430 to a CL63, try and run me from a set of lights in the middle of town I am sure they want to show me that they have the better vehicle and good luck to them. They must consider me a boy racer. These two cars in question were being driven by older gentlemen as well, with the CL63 driver chomping on a big fat cigar as he planted it. Nice sound from the CL63 and it made me smile.

I had a Audi RS4 driver following me last night. I took a few 'wrong' turns just to see if the guy would follow or I was being paranoid and he was going the same way. Sure enough he followed and when we turned onto a dual carriageway he planted it. Got about a car length ahead before I decided to give it a squirt. All over before we hit 120kays (no speeding involved honestly) Guess he was checking his car against a Subaru. Only thing he picked the wrong Subaru He was also a bit older and I am 39! Was I wrong to do this, i think not, it was an empty road, non residential and later at night. If we both could not control our vehicles in a straight line acceleration to motorway speeds, might as well give up and buy a Prius.

It doesn't matter who you are and what you do, or what car you drive, all you need is just common sense and be in tune with the real world that we all live in, ie: a professional racing driver does not necessarily be a responsable driver on the road, a person whose attended church every sunday does not necessarily make he/she a better person, it's our mind & soul that matter. Also please do not get rid of your beloved Subaru silmply just because few others gives us a bad name, we live for our own life not for other.

I am only 18, Well all bit 19 now (in a few weeks lol) I have only this scoob for a very short time, a few months at the most but i have already fell in love with it even though i have only ever drove it in private property due to my age im not exactly legal to drive it on the road and even if i was would not even scratch the surface on the insurance. I dont see why people claim this car is "chavvy". Sure they are loud and pretty nippy especially on the acceleration (which is what i love the most) but maybe its just the look or maybe even just because you always see the ******* in the films and they just happen to drive a Subaru. I have saved most of my life for this car and i dont intend on getting rid of it just because someone thinks im a **** as far as im concerned thats their problem not mine im not gonna throw away my lifes work and dream because of that, I own a Subaru and am damn proud of it
