Japenese Domestic Market (JDM) Import STi's and WRX cars are more powerful out of the box. The WRX JDM came with 250 BHP which is close to the early UK STi at 265 BHP but the UK WRX was either 215 or 225 BHP depending on age with out PPP or mods. Turbo's, interior and exterior differences are too many to mention here.

It's common knowledge the quoted BHP figures for the JDM cars where conservative.

I suggest you have a look at wiki but don't forget you can put anything on there.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_Impreza

You'll want to check the maileage aginst age as it may have to be a cambelt change AND service

Ye can change a cambelt on a scoob in just under 2 hours, and personally i,d allways change the idlers as its usually the idlers that fail, very rare the belt breaks on its own without an idler failing..

£500, id never pay that for someone to change a belt on a scoob...

i think you need to be financially prepeared, the fuel costs compared to your fiesta are probably going to double, and all the servicing/maintaince parts are alot more, like brakes etc.

just be ready, thats all i can say

i personally dont think the running cost are that bad as remember it is a 4wd jap performance car which in a year of driving mine has cost me my services and fuel thats it so if you want economy get a diesel

I'm not going to start this argument again, but I have both, and know which one I like to drive

Good luck with your search , test drive a few and i'm sure you'll find the right one as its a buyers market right now . Bug or Blob STI you'll love it just keep a few quid to one side .

As for a Focus ST , we have one and its ok for going to the supermarket and chucking the dog in the back but it doesn't compare , usual new Ford tat . Obviously this is just my opinion , used to be a big fan of Ford back in the day when they made real RS'S

Classic

Bugeye

Blob Eye

Hawk Eye

Hopefully the above will give you an indication of which 'shape' you prefer. Obviously there are many different versions of each so you are best to see what kind of budget you have, do some research & then ask again

dont get a focus st, theyre ****, i had one for 3 weeks and it was remapped with decat

no feel to the steering and they are made with cheap ****ty bits, everything is on the limit of breaking, mine was 18 months old ,all the nuts underneath were proper rusted as in had to snap them to undo them plus by the sills started to rust

Iv heard the Focus ST's are pretty shocking on fuel as well. Which is one of the downfalls of a scooby as well.

Isnt high fuel consumption to be expected with most performance cars. The great thing about the impreza is you can spend 5-10k on a car that gives you the same performance as cars that cost 5 to 10 times as much.

What is your budget? Good time to be buying a Scooby at the moment. Prices have really dropped, even in the last year and sellers who really want to sell their cars will have to be realistic about the selling price.

The newest model you will get is a Blobeye sti for 7k, or you could buy a bugeye or classic and have change for modding depends which model appeals to you most.
