Done that as well
Coming back from Ikea with a filing cabinet on the roof rack of my scoob, came up against a whole line of cars in the outside lane on the M40. Nothing in the inside lane, so slipped into Lane 1 and passed the ****ing lot of them whilst waving cheerfully at them . THe cabinet on the roof meant I couldnt do any major speed so 'undertaking' them was done at around 75

+1 ,i do exactly the same ,if i am doing 70 mph then i only use the middle/outside lane to overtake someone. I will normally gesture to the driver as i undertake them to pull over ,and most normally get the message when they realise that the inside lane is free and they are being undertaken .However it is amazing how many middle lane hoggers actually start to speed up ,when they see you coming up the inside.
