Temperatures are falling across Britain and will continue to do so in the days ahead, with the risk of snow growing from Wednesday evening onwards. The latest indications are that we can expect a spell of severe wintry weather during the next week, with much of the country having significant accumulations of snow, and overnight temperatures possibly falling as low as -15C locally once the cold is entrenched.
As we head into the weekend the risk of more prolonged periods of sleet or snow will increase, with blizzards developing at times over higher ground. Snow accumulations of more than 10 inches can be expected in places, causing transport disruption.
No real sign of a let up in the wintry weather, and it's possible that things will get even worse during the first half of next week, as a bitterly cold easterly wind brings more sleet and snow

I really don't understand all this snow business. I mean, back in 2002 the BBC predicted that climate change (sorry, for those not keeping up, that's 'global climate disruption' now ....) would mean snow would be a thing of the past .... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/1951784.stm ...
"... Snow could become a thing of the past in Scotland as climate change drives up temperatures and causes the sea level to rise, according to weather experts ... "Some people say they see the climate changing already. But certainly within the next 10-20 years we are really going to start noticing it." ... "
If the BBC said so then it must be true, so what's happening ...??

Driving home from Seaham tonight, it was bleaching down. Traffic was going really slow. The snow was horrific. Not lying though, thankfully, its too wet.
Watch out for black ice in the morn

Looked at 4 different web sites for weather and all say something different for the South East so assuming it's not going to get down here until I actually see it.
Was -1 when I took the dog out but lovely sunshine breaking through the cloud in places.
