We had heating when I was a little one, but our house was still freezing in the winter. I remember my Mam putting cling film on the windows. That must have been cheapo double glazing.

We could never see through our windows because they were covered in "Jack Frost"

I remember the winter of '63.
Fantastic amount of snow - our school playground was under at least 3 feet of it for ages.
School didn't get cancelled though

Seems the OP is correct in his predictions, the weather forecast for the end of this week is -15 with heavy snow up here in Aberdeen(shire).

Batten down the hatches..Once the Front is upon us,with the North Sea Temps being pretty warm at this time of year, its going to give this Low all the ammo it wants.
Expect lots of Snow along the East Coast Areas.Southern England may also get some Snow, early next week. There is also a good chance, that there is an Atlantic Pressure building up and coming in,causing Disruption to Ireland and the West coast of Scotland/England.
Then it's a re-run of Northerlys again, with more heavy Snow.Looks set to last well into December.Temps will hardly get up above freezing.

Thank you Wincy

I'm right on the western most tip of Wales. We don't usually get much snow - one flurry at the most. Hope it is bad because I will finally be justified in buying a 4.0L Petrol 4X4

He's not in St Louis anymore.

Where Mick used to live, Consett, Co. Durham, it snows in summer. Proper bandit country that is.

Car wash tends to freeze up now and again, its not so bad if you are having a regular day, but if the trade is a sporadic, it can freeze up pretty easily and you have to start melting it before you can put another customer in.

This was 2 years back.

This was last year with the mountain of snow we had to shovel every fecking day to open up

This is all flat ground, we had to dig out the staff parking spaces as well

This has the potential to be as big as early Jan/Feb 2010.The Northern Jet Stream, has imploded on itself over Greenland, and in effect is now going East to West.
North East England/Scotland get yasell's ready..there will be major Snowfall early as Tommorow, and into he weekend, after that there is still no let up.
Much of the Uk shall also see some of this.So i guess Uk is going o come to a standstill.
The charts i have seen, have not been witnessed for a long time,im very suprised the Main Media outlets have not issued more warnings.

Damn, I'm out of the country until at least a week Thursday so may miss this snow!

I also wish I'd changed the coolant in my car because I'm not sure how much anti-freeze is in it!
