wrong end of the stick maybe so. but if it wasnt for all these add ons to the policy that allow you and every moms grans nan to claim then maybe the insurance wouldnt of go up so much.

lets face it,its not people having crashes thats put the premiums through the roof as accidents have been happening since time began, its the injury claims involved that have put them through the roof ,up until a few years ago these type of claims were un heard of (around the time these no win no fee idiots popped up everywhere).

but you sell some type of procedure within the policy that allows either the drivers or those involved to claim !

car insurance should be to repair or cover the cost of a catogory write off only.

not for back ache/neck ache/loss off earning/ and anything these scammers can come up with.

thats not abad idear

car insurance is for car damage

if you want to claim personal injury against an accident then that should be a different insurance that is up to the person if he or she wants to pay and not complusary

that surely would stop all the dodgy whip lash claims ...lol

So if car insurers stopped having claims assistance do you think people would stop claiming for personal injury?

You need to be aiming your disapproval to the 'no win, no fee' brigade, who encourage people without any inury to still make a claim.

Also, don't forget insurance is a business.... not a public service.

Just to add.... i don't earn a single penny out of any PI claims, so don't think i'm sticking up for insurers for that reason.

I agree 100%, maybe life insurance should have an add on for this.

You don't have the cover.... you can't make a claim.

Can't see the courts agreeing to that though (unfortunately).

That said.... if someone is plaiing on making a dodgy claim, and earning themself £5k+ (per person that was in the car), do you think paying a small amount for an extra insurance would stop them doing it?

It's not just dodgy claims that ramp up the cost, even the settlement of a "simple" claim seems to entail a lot of "jobs for the boys" and a huge amount of paperwork

I'm claimiming at the moment because a local bus driver hit our empty parked car right in front of the wife. He admitted liability and the bus company wanted to do it all properly by way of the insurance.

Simple....get our car inspected, mended and in the meantime have the bodyshop courtesy car for a couple of days.

Nope we have had to deal with solicitors, no-win no fee, PI, several inspections (some guy even came to the house), car hire agreements and to top it all a company called On-Hire who extend credit (for which we seem to be liable) if the insurance company don't cough up.

I bet that lot didn't come cheap !!
