I'd be interested to hear some of the forums Muslims explain the notion of apostasy and justify it.

I read in the paper the other day about a wealthy British family adopting a very young Pakistani girl (1 year old or something) from Pakistan. They said they were determined she should be brought up a Muslim.

I thought this was idiot and made no sense.

Why indoctrinate someone?

Thoughts?

Over the past ten years, I've never heard a Muslim convincingly refute the claim. Not once. I too would like to see one of our Muslim brothers come on and tell us about their options around belief. Let's talk freedom of conscience; the very essence of human existence.

Tony de W and JT,

I am going to be 100% honest with you here. At times you come across to me like you are conducting a witch hunt in NSR as regards Muslims. You say otherwise and I am giving you the benefit of the doubt, but even then I seriously doubt that no matter what argument any Muslims were able to present it wouldn't be enough for you to ever change your views.

Given that, I seriously doubt the Muslims on SN would feel the desire to enagage on these threads.

Just a thought.

If you're so passionate about it why not **** off to a muslim forum and debate it?

Fine, don't debate then.

You realise that refusing to debate is a sign of weakness?

Yeah, but I think I can live with myself on this occasion. As you can see I am not the only one who feels this way... make of that what you will.

What an odd thing to say! Some might say harping on about one subject is a sign of weakness.

No if you refuse to engage in a reasonable debate it's a sign that your arguments cannot withstand the light of day...being as they are too weak.

On top of that he used an ad hom fallacy to attack me.

It all adds up to him having no reasonable argument.

I can understand the idea of apostasy being a matter of faith - and not being amenable to reason - but I would like to hear that, although it begs the question why it should apply to other people?
