Can't get my head around what people think about prices
When the cosworth came out 50k
Everyone said too much money
It's a specialist limited edition interesting though had a mail shot from subaru last week to say there was a few spare cosworths ,,be quick and get one,,
Maybe because they should of been delivered for end june hence cancelled orders
People are saying 33k is too much
2000 my classic cost £22700 as standard car alloys were another £1100and any other bits soon put it up to 25 k. Ask for a discount and the dealers soon kicked you out of the showroom and told you there was a 9 month wait !
The P1which I still regret not buying was £32k and of course you needed 18''wheels yes of course £1500 and you need uprated brakes and perhaps prodrive suspension etc ,don't think any P1 left the showroom under 35k !
WR1was 32k in 2007?
RB320 was 34k in 2008?
And of course the 22B was 40k in 1997/8
My wrxd has now gone up £2500 since June 09
That's inflation and of course the yen and exchange rate which is happpening all over the world and making it dearer for us in the uk
( even our housekeeper in cebu costs us £35 a month instead of £32 )
Talking to mike at stan palmers last thursday about the prices increases they are even better value now with recaros seats and 18'' wheels as standard theta would of set you back 3k? On the options list 2years ago so 33k is not out of the way and too be is a bargain
Just need a rear spoiler for standard though

But that was then, this is now - totally different market.
2000 and the Impreza was the car of dreams, the icon, the flagship, the car you always promised yourself .... Rally wins were aplenty, the car journalists were singing its praises!!
Fast forward to 2010, with most cars having caught up (and a large number overtaken) ... no Rally appearances, silly looking cars, mad prices, mad Car Tax, lunatic fuel consumption, no longer the car to be seen in, stuck in the past when the past is now the present.
Diesels are regularly showing a clean pair of heels to Imprezas up and down the country - yet returning 55mpg and costing £110 in Car Tax .... holding their values too!
Nah, sorry ... FAIL ... £33,000 for a 'Has Been' is NOT good value!

Thats my View on the cosworth, now thats in my mind what i think the STI is on yours, just a tad too much.
But its all down to what you can and cant afford, work pay for mine so its just down to what i choose, one thing i dont like driving is an insignificant car, i like to feel like i want to drive my car and unfortunately not many do that, i like diesals, great if your skint or no money, but also sensible but thats about it, no good for ya wife cos the filters clog up if she does school runs, and for the long drives just boring. I looked at Audis but none really look any cop apart from the RS4 and possibly the le mans a6s.
I am however going to buy the wife a BMW 320D effecient dynamics when i feel the need and she starts nattering.
but if you drive miles like me and have a 2.0d the company car rates currently from the Inland revenue, are pants and have been for ages, thus on a London trip you break even.
Now with the scooby OK its thirsty but 22p a mile VS 11p i make 15 quid on fuel, which in my book is a win.
ok Car tax rapes me, but i,ll stand that for Tonkability and fun she gives me.

You have mentioned this in every post .... and you have got it all wrong.
I could spend anything on a new car, I effectively had no budget - but, in June this year I bought a Honda Civic Diesel Type S GT ..... it ticked every box I could think of - for a reasonable price, so it won the race for the £ in my pocket.
I had a very long, hard look at the STi 330 ..... simply not worth the money (nothing to do with being able or not to afford it).
Unlike you, I need to buy my own cars - my company doesn't buy them for me - so, it needs to represent value for money.
By any measure, £33,000 for a STi Saloon is simply madness ....... it will not sell in any numbers.

I have the Hatch sti still but yeah I actually like this one allot more than the hatch, the handling is superb seems to hardly roll and seems more confident under heavy cornering and doesnt seem to appear to understeer like the older ones but that could be down to tyre choice as its on dunlop sp600's
The stereo is a bit of a sore point, now yes it does work very well but however the biggest pain in the **** is the bluetooth keeps disconnecting on the stereo and wont reconnect without turning it off then back on again.

It's obviously worth £33k to him and that's all that matters. £110 road tax and 55mpg seems to matter to you... nice one, it must give you a warm glow from the inside.
PS i have a second car that does 60mpg and £35 road tax handles like a kart and has the build quality of a BMW. Do i get a prize

good luck to you mate and ignore the rest, its the car you want, there are still not slow by any means which people seem to forget and it will look great in the flesh. if i had the money i wouldn't be driving a classic around day to day thats for sure, weekend car maybe, but a new scoob would be top of the list.
