I take it you have never been in a baby changing room. They have large bins (albeit often full) for used nappies, wipes and other detritus that you collect with freshly made babies.

Why would you choose to carry around a used nappy unless you have to?

I am really not sure of your point here other than some lame attempt at misdirection.

The main point has been made that babies should be fed in baby changing rooms and the main objection is that this is the equivalent of feeding a baby in a toilet.

PS You didn't answer the question about why women should have to hideaway and what is it that you find offensive about breastfeeding?

PPS I don't think they have changing rooms in restaurants!!

^^ It's not a toilet though, it's a changing room. Toilets have toilets in them, changing rooms don't. Your original post attempts to "sully" a changing room with a toilet comparison. I'm simply saying that a changing room is OK with me as a place to breast feed. Taxi!

By a long stretch not every changing room is like that. If it was people may not object so much. And that too relies on places having said facilities.

From the few I have seen, they are more like the size of a disabled toilet with less facilities. If I was changing a child (out of a dirty nappy) in a small area used by countless other people whose hygene you knew nothing about or how often it got cleaned, I wouldn't be swung on feeding them in the same place.

Being semi serious and taking things a bit far, would you be happy to eat you lunch (say a packed one so you don't directly eat food off a surface) in a toilet, as in not the cubicle but the surrounding main room? I mean ultimately the area I'm speaking of isn't directly pissed or **** on, so why not? Surely it doesn't matter what people have just been touching/doing as the area I speak of isn't really a toilet, it's just a main room that toilets are in.... Just still doesn't seem 'nice' to me.

Still, I really can't see the huge issue here. I really couldn't care less and if anything I'd think mothers would like a better choice of areas to feed in, but going by my local town, you are lucky to find a local toilet let alone a changing area, never mind somewhere suitable to feed a baby.

I have had the (mis)fortune to use a baby changing room. In the two years of doing nappies I have been in ONE that approaches the palatial dimensions of the picture you have used. And that was in a motorway services.

Often baby changing facilities are not just like a disabled toilet, they are actually shared with the disabled toilet. Or like Lisa says, they are like a disabled toilet, but often smaller. Many baby changing facilities are simply a fold down table in the male and female toilets.

Even where they are separate facilities, like toilets it is where **** and **** are being cleaned up after being in the body. They also usually stink of a horrid combination of **** and air freshener, so again, just like a toilet.

Which bit of the toilet comparison don't you get?


Oh, and you are avoiding the more obvious question, what is it you find offensive about women breastfeeding that means you think they should be hidden away?

I do spend all day in public, sometimes, when needed. What's the issue there??

And NO, I never took nappies with me filled with poo! If there were no appropriate nappy disposal, yes, I would put it in the bottom of the pushchair until one came along. However, nappy changing facilities have the appropriate waste disposal bags, so they get dumped somewhere else.

Thankfully mine now poo in the hole like the best of us.

Most of them, I would say a good 75%+ are actually in the disabled toilets with a pull down plastic table. You can barely even move with said facities in place, and the only place for an adult to sit is on the toilet.

I have come across one facility like the one in your link, however there are still toddler toilets and adult toilets in them, and to be honest, I would have never used them for the correct use, never mind to feed a baby in.

Babies need feeding when they're hungry, therefore once they're hungry they get fed - regardless of their location.

I'm shocked that anyone would have a problem with ad-hoc flashes of public breast-age, I'd have assumed that would've been a plus factor.

Still.... I suppose that those against were likely bottle fed, and as a result slightly jealous of the whole situation.

This has turned into a really interesting thread.
I can't understand though, how anyone can find breast feeding something that needs to be done in private. It's what boobies are there for.
I bet the same folks who don't like seeing a baby being fed, don't mind looking at a pair of boobies any other time

Very true.

If a lady has them hanging out just 'for fun' it's considered glorious by many, yet if you put a baby at them being fed the situation seems to change.

But in my opinion it isn't. It's still a boob, or ***** on show.

The fact of the matter is, most people be it couples or anyone in a food establishment would probably never notice a baby being breastfed near them.
To be honest if you have been looking at anyone long enough to see something like that, I don't think it's the breastfeeding mum with the problem, but more so the nosey parker who's obvoulsly too bored with his/her own company that he/she is going to have a good old stare at a strangers ****.

If there were no baby attatched you'd likely cop a mouthful off the owner of said *****.

Breasts have three purposes: -

a) be aesthetically pleasing to a man's eye

b) be erotically pleasing to a man's needs

c) to feed a baby (their primary purpose in reality but I am a man)

I am sure that pretty much all the men on this thread have and will continue to enjoy a) and b) and would not generally object to whether it was in public or private, in real life or a picture or video as long as they could cop a good look or feel!

So what the problem with c) is, is completely beyond me!

There was a time when eating in public was considered bad form, that is to say outside of an eating establishment. Stuffing you face with a burger on a street corner was not good etiquette.

Having observed one scruffy chap on the train the other day chomping (loudly) his way through a greasy bag of chicken I can understand....bits of chicken, grease, everywhere. Ughh.

Still ****ting in public is frowned upon...except with Indians though...

Anyway, I have no issue with it, but I don't want randoms looking at my misses knockers .. and I want them to be in a safe secure environment.

Mrs Pimmo fed ours off the boob and had a selection of tops and covers to do it without being seen.

The only three people to see her, were me, the baby and the midwife .. she covered from her mum too .. its how she felt comfortable..

Clicked Option B so I'm not offended by it, rather my preference is not to see female parts on display in a public place if it can be avoided. I think it's reasonable for the mother to suffer some minor disruption in order to find somewhere quite to go? A reasonable comparison is a gent taking a p*ss - it's a natural bodily function & they could just whizz where they stand; most choose a minor inconvinience (no pun intended ...) & walk to a toilet. I only jumped in on the Changing Room thing as you compared it to a toilet when it isn't ... there are no WCs or Urinals in there & people don't go there for a sh*t or p*ss (that happens elsewhere). Seems a reasonable place to go IMHO.

Women release a hormone that allows them to feel at ease to feed whenever or wherever is needed. So they don't need to find somewhere.

And taking a ****, is nowhere near close for comparison to breastfeeding.

Do you honestly feel it is ok to feed a child where you clean up human waste?

I think you have got confused. This isn't about exposing womens breasts, but about breastfeeding in public.
It has already been highlighted that you see very little, so what's the problem?

Again, there is no need to walk about naked in public, but a child NEEDS to be fed.

It does not bother me at all. I would rather have a mother sat next to me breastfeeding than to have the baby wailing away because it is hungry
