I don't use that site, bunch of opinionated women who can't see past their own point of view.

I just remembered a great breastfeeding incident.

We were at great-grandma's funeral which which was in a fairly packed church. Our one year old was having his afternoon nap in his buggy, under a little cover right at the front of the church.

All was quiet during some prayers and all of a sudden all you hear was a plaintive cry from his buggy as he woke up...."Booooooby! Booooooby!!"

Personally most women do it and you can't even tell if they are just cuddling their baby or actually feeding. With the right clothing there is no 'tit wanging'.

Have just been through a couple of years of having breast fed kids it really should not be an issue. I would personally have to question the neuroses of those who seem to find feeding a baby such an issue.

I am sure they are the same people who will happily pick up the Sun and the Sport and not find any personal difficulty in checking out the page 3 model (OK in the Sport the Page 2 through 17, the centrefold and pages 31 to 43)!

As for people commenting on it's relationship with sexuality - please go and see a psychiatrist!
Great answer. Whats the problem? Nearly all ladies are careful and its not any issue. It should be law that breastfeeding mums should not be discriminated against.

Exactly, I am sure some women use sites like that for a slanging match.

I brought the topic in here as it's male dominated, and I wanted balanced opinions.

I was lucky when out, people were too busy picking their jaws off the floor when they found out that the newborn I was feeding and the 17 month old in the pushchair were both mine. I could have stood up and revealed both ***** to the world and I don't think their faces would have changed.

As for how I feel, I know some people don't like to see it, so I have never made a display of it, but I have never faffed about with cloths or extra layers to cover up. That just usually makes it more obvious. When your flapping about with cloths with one hand, and you have a baby in the other you need a third to get the booby out!

Why would you want to do it in public when you could easily do it somewhere discreet?

Like where?

For example, it's a cold day, mum and baby are out in town and baby has been sleeping for several hours, so now decides to wake up and his hungry.
A baby doesn't understand waiting, and wants to be fed now!

Where is this mum supposed to go, in your opinion?

Why should women with babies have to 'do it somewhere discreet'? And sometimes there isn't a convenient 'descreet' place available.
It's not a big deal really is it, do we live in a society offended by babies feeding?

It's a bizarre thought isn't it?

In some circumstances yes, but your original post

‘Do you feel it is not appropriate when you are eating a meal to have someone breastfeedng at the next table?’

Surely you wouldn’t have to put someone in that situation

Exactly.

I wouldn't dream of going off and secluding myself whilst eating.

Maybe a quiet corner facing the wall, or in the ladies as suggested. Lol.

I'd much rather hear the baby screaming it's head off
I'm not quite sure why people have a problem with breast feeding in public. Prudishness I suppose.
Funny thing is that it seems perfectly acceptable to have 11 year old girls walking around dressed up like slappers.
Nowt as queer as folk.

"Put someone in that situation"?

If you are saying you feel it is not appropriate that if fine, we are all entitled to our opinion.

However, could you elaborate what situation you would be in exactly??
Surely you eat your meal and that's it?

I said somewhere discreet, i.e not sitting on the edge of a display in a busy department store right in the main throughfare, i'm quite sure the staff could have provided a chair in a quiet corner if neccecery which surely would be better for the mother as well?

The fact was she wanted attention

This must have been put up as a provocative thread because you could argue your point forever.

But the way I see it you posted when your having a meal, I wouldn’t want to pay to sit down for a meal and have someone breastfeeding in my view, unless she was fit

If you read my post properly you would have seen that I said she was clearly getting the whole tit out she was "tit wanging". Also I think we both know the baby changing facilities in a department store are as clean as the restraunt, and huge to give plenty of room for breast feeding if that is the mums choice

Having been out with my partner and the breastfeeding kids I can assure you that somewhere discreet is usually the toilet in most public places. There is a dearth of the 'discreet' places you allude to.

And I can also assure you that you do not think a toilet is a great place for you to eat your dinner so why is it any different for a baby?

On the other hand, when going out and especially if we were in a restaurant, we would always make sure we could do our best to get a table where feeding would be discreet if necessary; or go to places where the main customer base was mothers with young children and so no one really cared.

I used 'while eating a meal' as ONE example amongst many as cafes and restaurants are public places where most people (children and babies) go for some form of food or drink.

This has not been posted for a rection. Just a sensible question.

I think you need to let all the mums know where these super clean, large, restaurant like changing facilities are. Most parents I know would love to hear of it.

Nothing like eating in a place where the main purpose is the removal of **** filled nappies.

I would love to know too please!

They smell like poo, and usually have an overflowing 'waste' bin in the corner.
Not the nicest of places to actually change a nappy, nevermind feed a baby.

If you know you're going out wouldnt it be easier to manual pump into a bottle for when you are out? Or is not that easy?

It's not easy for all women, and some choose not to use bottles at all.

where is somewhere that is not in the public and is discreet say for example if the mum is out shopping in a city center, can you give examples, and i don't think the mum 'wants to do it', she HAS to do it

a baby cannot wait too long for feed, what does a breastfeeding mum need to do, quickly find a corner to hide in.......tbh, the only people who have issues are non-parents who tut tut, inbetweener type teenagers who giggle, or strange perv type men, who leer.

Most mothers are discreet anyway, and you'd be hard pressed to see the flesh of the breast (if you were that way inclined as to stare.)
