Had this for about 6/7 years.
Done the majority of the work on it myself, bar the various engine rebuilds, and still spent around 13k on the thing
Got rid of it when the credit crunch started affecting trade as the constant 180 miles to a tank on a good week was starting to **** me off, and my wage from work started getting slowly destroyed.
And then my 6 month old 2.5 engine popped a piston ringland time to get shot.
Needed a cheap run about to tide me over until trade picked up, got a hold of this to ferry me about around 2 years back.
Was actually really surprised by it, chassis was great, not what i would call fast considering i came from a 2.5 impreza at 1.65ber boost but it was "nippy" and was giving me 25mpg around the doors and 33mpg on a run.
Ended up keeping it, and spent 380quid on it to make it look different from our lasses granddads Rover 45
It stands me nothing, its worth nothing, it has been the most reliable car i have ever owned it flys through MOT`s, and it handles great.
I have an interview for a new job next monday, and it appears that i am the only person being interview for this position, if successful (i am pretty confident), i will be doing pretty much what i am doing now, just with double the amount of current trade, and to be honest, i don't think i will bother getting rid of the rover run about i like driving it

Had a MY99 from 2001 till this year. Now in a Mondeo St TDCI. Loved the Impreza for a good few years then grew to hate it due to the way the marque and image went.
Wouldn't have another.

I sold the scooby you are driving now with all the modifications and money you have spent. I miss the noise more than anything but drivind a 180 bhp tdi now and 60mpg so cant grumble. The car looks good though eggy keep me eye on this site for another old one when I have the money. I have had 7 imprezas various specs and I still prefer the classics but great cars just bit pricey for driving 100 miles a day lol.

I had a 1998 UK Turbo until about 2003.
I get bored of cars and move onto something else, no other reason for getting rid of it.
I like to think I now have an altogether better car now.

Never had and never will have a scoob
I always liked having something different, so while the masses were getting imprezas I was blasting around in GTiRs of which I had a couple, also had a nice MR2 GTS (turbo, lsd, no abs, mega smiles)
Now days my transport are a Passat derv and a transit van, and my performance comes in the shape of an 160+bhp bike (R1) and also a dedicated trackbike (CBR600RR)

Seems like a lot of people stay on this site despite growing out of the actual cars.
I like this site because it has high traffic and minimal moderation. Lots of car sites have light traffic, and Pistonheads is heavily moderated by Guardian reading black Lesbians.

MY00 Turbo 2000 from 2000 to 2003 when I had a "little" coming together with a fire engine.
Now drive a Zafira VXR (need the extra room for two little people)
Might buy another scooby if I ever find myself in the position where I need a 2nd car.

I currently drive '99 mica blue classic.
Had it about 14 months now, it's my first scoob, but no doubt will not be the last.
I'm quite lucky that I actually have a car given that I don't work, so in 12 months or so I will possibly get myself a little oil burner, ang get the scoob insured in Mr P's name.
I will still get to drive the spanking new S40 too!

Owned an 03 WRX PPP from 2004-2007. The best car I've ever owned for many reasons. As reliable as a Swiss watchmakers Japanese pacemaker, as quick as lightening, handled like a dream (after modification) and introduced me to some brilliant mates and a friendly and vibrant social scene.
Would I have another ? YES !!! Unless I can afford an Ariel Atom instead. Or maybe a newish 335D Touring (map'd to 350/500).

Think i'm lost in here
Had my Scoob for 6 years but sold it nearly three years ago for a Lotus then a 172 and now a Mondy TDCi
The banter is good in here so have no intention of jumping ship. I'd like to think i'll have anaother Scoob at some point. It is by far the car i miss more than any other

I owned this from 2000 to 2008
It ended up with a fair few later Impreza bits bolted to it over the years. I got it to the point where I really enjoyed it, then sold it
Just got the Mk2 Golf and my heavily neglected XR4x4 now
I've no intention of ever owning an Impreza, but do quite fancy an H6 Outback at some point in the future
